I've got to think that the Cubs would try to get Giles if he was willing to move. Regardless, this is an interesting twist.
Hopefully, Peavy will get traded this week. If this drags on as long as the Brian Roberts saga, I'll go crazy.

I expect this to drag out. Towers is becomgin very annoying.

Would much rather see Larish in a trade for Putz than in a trade for Wilson. I don't know what else the Tigers will have to offer for Putz, but I know that they would have had to offer too much for Wilson.

"he Tigers are backing off Jack Wilson, as they consider Adam Everett his equal"

JDay: I seriously believe this is just the Brian Roberts deal 2.0
As a Cubs fan, I just want this to happen or totally die.
Hopefully something will happen this week involving Peavy, but I won't hold my breath.

Did Towers say he wanted to get this done as soon as he could?

Everett, Punto or Cora will be just fine at SS in detroit. id rather use Larish to get Putz.
but Everett is not equal to wilson.

I think a three way trade between the Cubs, Rays and Padres could work out well, depending on what the Rays would be willing to give up.

I hope not, Ive never really liked Giles that much. I would rather A) Platoon Pie/RJ in center and give Fuku his starting role back or B)Platoon RJ/Fuku in right and give Pie a shot in center.

The Rays have said they would be willing to trade RHP Edwin Jackson or RHP Andy Sonnanstine or maybe even SS Jason Bartlett

What is there not to like about Giles?

I dont even know what to guess in a 3 way trade that would send Giles to the Rays and Peavy to the Cubs. But let me try cuz I cant sleep and I am bored.
Cubs get Peavy
Rays get Cedeno, Giles, Hart
Padres get Bartlett, Vitters, Marshall, Jackson, Pie

I wouldn't have a problem with a Santiago/Cora platoon.

I'm thinking it's Sonnastine? (sp?)
Cubs get: Peavy
Rays get: Giles
Padres gets: Sonnastine, Vitters, Cedeno, Pie, Marshall

That's not a 3-way deal. Those are two separate deals.
I do like the Rays as the 3rd team. I think they have lots of talent to give up. I just can't see what the Cubs have that would be of interest to them. Maybe Theriot and a reliever.

Cedeno, Pie, and Marshall are not good trade chips. Especially in a deal involving Jake Peavy.
