Rays Rumors: Bradley, Rivera, Griffey

4:44pm: Mike DiGiovanna says the Rays are also believed to be interested in Juan Rivera.

3:14pm: Rosenthal adds that Bradley went to lunch today with Rays officials.

3:12pm: According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Rays are "thought to be considering" Milton Bradley, Pat Burrell, Bobby Abreu, Jason Giambi, and Raul Ibanez.  Heyman adds that Ken Griffey Jr. would be thrilled to play for the Rays.

I imagine the Rays will wait back until January in hopes of signing somebody to a one-year deal.

Rosenthal said Bradley had lunch with the Rays.

Hmmmm I wonder what they ate???

What did they eat? Can of BS?

Seafood maybe?

Did Bradley try to kill one of the Rays officials at lunch if they said something wrong?

So I heard the waitress spilled his drink on him and he broke her nose...then he punched the Rays officials for not stepping up for him...

I wonder if Milton is letting up on his demands of a 4 year deal. Bradley to Rays makes perfect sense.

At least this slow offseason has provided some entertainment for MLBTR readers...Rosenthal and Graziano's blatantly wrong reports.

Seriously...even WFAN callers can create better trade scenarios.

So much for the Rays valuing character and defense...

You guys came in here to bash Bradley, I came to bash the Rays....

1: Which Grand Slam did he get?

2: Did they purchase Milton any tokens or did he have to play Dance Dance Revolution on his own dime?

"So much for the Rays valuing character and defense..."

Milton would DH. The Rays have an empty DH spot.

"Milton out to lunch" - true true.

crawford, upton, bradley, longoria and pena would make a pretty sweet middle of the order. And that doesnt even take into consideration a RF they are likely to trade for (Hermida?)

They say that Milton Bradley is so tough that there is no chin under his beard. There is only another fist.

A bunch of morons taking cheap shots at Milton Bradley. What a shocker. None of you guys even know Milton Bradley, yet you take shots at him because it is easy to do and you think you are funny. Has Bradley been a saint? Of course not, but I look at it this way. If I was down the right field line trying to make a play, and I had beer thrown in my face, somebody is getting their shyt rocked when I find out who did it, representing MLB be damned. The whole umpire situation was a joke. I have never seen some more unprofessional crap in my life then seeing a MLB umpire taunt a player into getting himself ejected, and actually hurting himself and costing his team the playoffs. It was a joke. Seeing as how the umpire was suspended, and everybody came to Miltons defense, I wouldn't throw that blame towards him either. Haven't the teammates of Milton in Oakland, SD, and now Texas enjoyed playing with him? Sure, he may be a little nutty, but get over it. Get some original material to work with people, don't just take shots at a guy because everybody else does it and you want to be part of the crowd, but are just too un-original to come up with your own material.

matthew.... I don't know how you put Ken Rosenthal in the same category as Dan Graziano. Rosenthal is one of the best in the business in this rumor game, he is a go to guy for many of the smaller journalists, and sites like this. Dan Graziano is just some local hack who writes stuff about the NY teams that doesn't make any sense. You gotta realize that like the game they analyze and report on, even the best trade rumor guys will be wrong most of the time, just like the best hitters fail most of the time. Comparing Rosenthal and Graziano is just silly.

Abreu is a perfect fit for the rays. Experienced veteran, patient at the plate, decent arm, can steal bases. nrmax grow some balls, what are you milton's mother?

Grow some balls.... and that is relevant how? I couldn't care less about Milton Bradley. I'm just saying what a bunch of idiots you all are.

That's harsh. I guess this you getting payback for year after year of being picked last in gym class?

Chipotle needs to meet Tim's banhammer.

I'm not a fan of Juan Rivera for the Rays. Just don't like the injury risk.

I think Pat Burrell is definitely a good fit for Tampa Bay. He would give them a veteran RHP power bat that could DH and play some outfield, and he would likely sign a pretty cheap deal because of the glut of 1B/LF/DH types on the market.

Rays gotta take risks if they want good players. That's how baseball works for teams with no money. nrmax might have been right there are some idiots here.

chipotle,
not cool.. go find somewhere else to spew your insults..

m. bradley makes to much sense for that team..

crawford
upton
bradley
longoria
pena
narvarro
iwamura(sp)
bartlett
baldelli/gross/anyone they want

thats a good lineup.. and there pitching? yikes

The Rays also have a need in RF. Bradley would presumably be at least a part-timer in RF and DHing the rest of the time. Still, defense isn't his forte.

The Rays heavily emphasized character and team unity in building the 2008 team and Bradley goes against that. I don't see the Rays paying Bradley what he wants (making him the highest paid player on the team in terms of annual salary) as a guy who isn't a leader and has issues controlling his emotions. It just doesn't make sense.

I think Bradley's body of work both on the field and off speak for themselves.

If I demonstrate a consistent pattern of poor anger management, I deserve the reputation I eventually get.

Given the Ray's attempts to clean house of disruptive and disreputable folks, I'm surprised they'd even meet with Bradley.

"They say that Milton Bradley is so tough that there is no chin under his beard. There is only another fist."

Um... no? That is Chuck Norris. I heard he can also sneeze with his eyes open and that he destroyed the periodic table of elements because he only recognizes the element of surprise.

I heard he brought the lunch to the Rays. Apparently he beat up a chichen for crossing the road for the wrong reason while on his way to the meetings.

Apparently, Rosenthal says, that chickens name was Steve Traschel.
