When Lillibridge's name came up in the White Sox - Braves deal, I immediately thought he was a good possibility to be flipped since the Sox are committed to Alexei Ramirez at SS.
I could see some deal of Lillibridge and Dye to the Reds, but I've seen Homer Bailey and he is awful. Then again, so was Gavin Floyd until the Sox pitching coach got a hold of him, so who knows.
But a pitcher named Homer? He needs to start using a better nickname. Crazy Eyes Killer, No Balls, anything but Homer.

The Reds might as well stick with Jeff Keppinger at short instead of Brent Lillibridge. They're fairly similar players, but Keppinger is more established at the ML level.

So what could the Giants get back from the Reds for a package of Manny Burriss and Jack Taschner?

Explain who both of those guys are please....
Reds could send Bailey and Stubbs for Dye ad Lillibridge...but I like Phillips at second and would rather have a better player at short...maybe he can play third...

You hear every team looking for relievers except for the Mets that really need bullpen help.

Taschner is a LOOGY and Burriss is a young SS/2B with no power and suspect glove. Burriss' upside is that he does have a good BB/SO ratio, has good speed, and this year had a solid OBP thanks to a 280 BA.
The answer to Buck Henry's question is not much. Rhodes is a much better option out of the pen than Taschner. And while Burriss may have some tools, he is still a year or two away which is when Valaika/Frazier will be ready.

The ranking system really is unfair to the player. Why should Oliver be penalized when it's the Angels that benefit from Oliver signing elsewhere?
It would be much better if the picks were all just assigned out of the supplemental rounds OR if the penalty kicked in after signing one Type A or Type B.

"Reds could send Bailey and Stubbs for Dye ad Lillibridge"
Sign me up. I'd love for the Sox to get Stubbs, an athletic power/speed combo in center, as well as Bailey, the kind of guy who could blossom with Cooper.

I believe the Reds would (and should) trade Dickerson before they'd consider trading Stubbs.
