If the Nats have interest in someone like Taveras, they'll use him as a back-up. The Nats have too many outfielders as is, with some decent prospects in the pipeline. Jim Bowden is an idiot if he gets taveras, the Nats need a left handed power hitter and pitching. They've got the outfielders they need.

I'd like to see the Cubs/Rox match up to swap Brad Hawpe somehow.
Hawpe fits the bill of a Left-Handed hitting RF.
Marquis + $$$ + prospect(s) for Hawpe??
Rox also have Seth Smith who could fill in at RF, so they do have some flexibility in trading Hawpe

I would be all about a deal for Hawpe. He puts up very solid offensive numbers every year and thats what the Cubs need, someone to break up all the rightys they have. The only question from me, does he play good defense? Anyone have any stats on his defense?

Marquis would get lit up in Coors. No way does he have the value for Coors.

Glendon Rusch? The 11-year veteran, 5.02-career ERA medical liability?
I really don't get how some of these types find work.

Basically, if you're breathing, the Rockies want you.
Hawpe would be a good move for the Cubs. His home and road splits are pretty good so he may be Ok outside of Coors.

Trading Hawpe would make alot of since for the Rockies. That said if they did trade him trading him to the Angles for something like Joe Saunders + which would make alot more sense than to the Cubs and the heap of scrubs they would offer.
Rockies need to face the fact they won't be in the chase this year and trade away talent they have(Atkins, Street & Hawpe) to improve the team for the 2010 chase.

I'm not sure how Hawpe is a fielder. I think he is pretty decent, in that he will catch what he can get to. His range is limited and his speed is ok. But he does have a cannon for a left arm though.
