« Rosenthal's Latest: Dunn, Burrell, Manny | Main | Twins, Dodgers Lead Charge For Blake »
Looks like the relief market is starting to move. MLB.com's Jason Beck says talks for Joe Beimel have picked up in recent days, with the Tigers one of the remaining clubs. Darren Oliver's arbitration offer helped the market for Beimel.
Beck also notes that the Reds "supposedly had not engaged in talks as of Wednesday" for Beimel despite the team's reported interest. The Rockies may be in the mix though.

Again, how stupid were the Dodgers with this? Type B, so other teams don't have to give up a pick, and even if he accepted, it would have been a good deal to keep him. Idiots.

Ok, so explain this to me. Joe Beilmel's good...but should the Reds have just resigned Addefeldt? I guess Beimel is better but still...I would gladly give him 3 years 11 million....

and the mets remain quiet???
Do they think they're going to sign multiple closers/former closers to man the 7th, 8th and 9th innings??

Beimel = LOOGY. The Mets don't need a LOOGY or a specialist of any kind. They need guys who can get hitters out from BOTH sides of the plate, like Juan Cruz, Fuentes, etc.

Dodgers should of offered him Arb. Their front office: Epic Fail.

Whoever gets Beimel should be happy. He's a workhorse and will bust out a custom baseball robe when you guys make the playoffs. The legend of Joe Beimel will live on.

Gmblng,
Yes, the Reds should have just resigned Affeldt.
Now, with Left Handed Relievers getting signed and teams still needing them, the ones left are either old and over the hill (Arthur Rhodes) or are going to be more expensive.

Melonis,
I've heard that argument before but my point is Beimel is light years better than Feliciano and Schowenweis, IMO. That's why i do it, plus if i'm them, i've gotta make a significant change with not only my closer but here too, especially with the Phils top hitters being left-handed.

Any chance of Beimel to Cleveland?

Yankees? Boston? I'd love to see him in Boston, he's better than Javier Lopez, whose 2.43 ERA and stats must be some of the most misleading of all time with his clutch situations being abysmal.
