According to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon, the Reds and two other teams have shown serious interest in free agent Jerry Hairston Jr. He's present at the Meetings until tomorrow, and could sign before they end. The Reds talked to Hairston's agent Monday but not today.
The Phillies have been linked to Hairston in past reports.

I would assume the Red Sox are in on him as well. If they want to bring in Baldelli, they'll need someone with infield/outfield flexibility.
Hairston's speed off the bench is valuable as well.
Then they can move Lugo and get a bat for the bench.
Hairston
Baldelli
Cash/Young catcher acquisition
Corner IF bat type(Millar?)

The Reds just got rid of the injury prone Freel so why bring back the injury prone JHJ? Especially if it means that Toothpick Baker gets one of his toys back to play with in 2009....
I mean, when JHJ is starting every day, leading off and hitting .220, I just can't wait to read that Toothpick didn't know he was in an 0 for 24 and 2 for 42 slump and only found out when a reporter asked him about it.

either peter schmuck or roch said that the orioles showed minor interest in bringing hairston back to fill in as a reserve or insurance if they traded b-rob. but with the new trade for freel i doubt the orioles will be on the market for hairston

Ctown, please just stop. For the sake of all the SANE and non-mouthbreathing Reds fans....stop.
