Tigers Bullpen Rumors

9:15pm: Jon Paul Morosi says Beimel still tops the Tigers' list among lefties, but they've also expressed interest in John Parrish.

2:23pm: MLB.com's Jason Beck says the Tigers talked to Joe Beimel's agent at the Meetings.  They intend to sort out their closer situation first though.  The Reds also like Beimel.

2:28am: For roughly $4MM in '09 salaries, the Tigers filled two needs Monday with defensive-minded pickups Gerald Laird and Adam Everett.  Now Dave Dombrowski will set his sights on a closer.

Jon Paul Morosi maintains that the Tigers are most interested in J.J. Putz and Kerry Wood.  It may come down to how they'd prefer to pay - in prospects or in dollars.  Morosi notes that Marcus Thames, expected to earn $2MM+ in '09, could be shipped out to save additional cash.

I wonder what that mariners would get back for putz, I don't think they would give up porcello maybe bonderman.

I dont think they are going to be giving up Bonderman in a deal for Putz. it might be something like Larish/Clevlen and a minor league pitching prospect. They are said to be interested in Larish because Ibanez is leaving and they will need a lefty to come off the bench. Clevlen would give them another option for outfield and i have no idea who the 3rd player would be. Probably Marte or Figaro. But i hope they hang on to them, they could come in handy

Here is what we'll probably give up for Putz: Larish, Joyce, and probably Miner.

thames is solid.. mets should get him

"Here is what we'll probably give up for Putz: Larish, Joyce, and probably Miner" No way I'd give up Joyce in this deal. Three MLB ready players is too much for Putz.

Thames to the Braves sounds like a good fit for both clubs

why does almost everyone think that DD will include Porcello in a trade. He is not going anywhere so quit asking

What about Thames to the Rays for a reliever? They need a right handed hitting OF, and he is a cheap option.

Thames for Edwin Jackson or Sonnastine?

You have to add more into that deal from the Tigers' side if they want Sonnanstine. Jackson for Thames sounds reasonable.

Because it doesn't look like the Tigers are hesitant to trade top prospects...

Porcello for Putz straight up would be awesome for the Mariners. Although if I'm DD, I dont' do it.

John Parrish? JOHN PARRISH? The guy who started the season in the minors before being called up, interests the Tigers???

Well, you gotta think outside the box once in a while, I guess.
