« Hanshin Tigers Sign Kevin Mench | Main | Jays Offer Arb To Burnett, Not Zaun »
According to Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Twins offered arbitration to Type B free agent reliever Dennys Reyes. Reyes earned $1MM this year while tossing 46.1 solid innings, so the Twins can't go wrong either way.

would have been a better pick up for the Yankees than the 3 year deal for Marte.

I don't want to put them all in one post because then the comments will be all over the place.

I don't think you can really tell who would be better for the Yankees. While Reyes is still good against righties he is primarily a lefty specialist while Marte can not only pitch to lefties but set up as well. It's also yet to be seen how much other teams will offer Reyes if he declines arbitration. I believe the Yankees made sure to grab Marte before others snatched him or Reyes and they were left with nothing.

Smart move by the Twins. A lot of teams are looking for left handed relief help and you know some team will offer him 2 years. At least this way the Twins will get a supplemental round draft pick. Let's just hope the two young lefties Mijares and Breslow can give the Twins some solid innings

Reyes won't take it, and the Twins will take the pick. He wants a longer deal than the 1 year of arb, and while the relief market is tight, he'll draw enough interest to get it.

Even if Reyes accepts (some of the relievers should accept, due to the depth in the reliever market), its a solid deal for the Twins. Bullpen depth is crucial, especially with that young staff.

Can't miss on this guy and also, he could be a piece in future trade for 3rd baseman as hard to find good LH relievers these days.
