Dodgers Rumors: Wolf, Garland, Looper

Tony Jackson of the Los Angeles Daily News has a variety of Dodgers rumors for us:

  • Dodgers GM Ned Colletti said he would like to add "a starter, a reliever or both" as well as a versatile bench player.
  • Jackson writes that the club's believed to have refined its search for a starter to three pitchers: Randy Wolf, Jon Garland and Braden Looper. Yahoo's Tim Brown wrote that the Dodgers had interest in these three earlier in the week.
  • The Dodgers are also believed to be looking at Juan Cruz, a Type A free agent. Signing Cruz would require giving up a draft pick, so Jackson says he's less likely to join the Dodgers. Ken Rosenthal suggested the Dodgers had interest earlier in the week.
  • The club could bring Nomar Garciaparra back, but he has another suitor now that the Phillies are also interested.

NoMore NoMar

Garland is putrid!

Wolf has some upside!

Looper is a Pooper!

"NoMore NoMar"

When Nomar used PROPERLY (not ran out there everyday) he'd still be good to have around, but I was under impression Loretta signing ended it right there.

Garland is awful.
Looper is on the downside.
Wolf is average.
Ned make a trade or look at Sheets and Lowe

There's no sure-fire solution out there. Sheets has highest upside but also possibly highest risk, given injury history. (They already have Jason Schmidt to worry about.)

Imho, Looper would be the best idea, because he'd be cheapest and is underrated. Garland is worse than mediocre much of the time. Wolf can be good, mostly average and will want a long term deal. Sign Looper or take a chance on Sheets, if I were the Dodgers.

Wolf has some upside! Geek!

If LA were Philadelphia, fans would be lighting a bonfire outside McCheap's mansion.

Can't wait until Colletti takes his inevitable look at Prior.

It feels like Ned is gonna put the pitching staff together on the cheap, then use whatever is left(or whatever Frank allows)to sign Manny.

I agree with underdog8. Looper in my opinion is very underrated. He made the transition from reliever to starter two years ago, and has improved this second season starting.

Correction:
It feels like Ned is gonna put the pitching staff together on the cheap, then use whatever is left(or whatever Frank allows)to build a new wing of the house for Jamie.

jesus christ....our team is going to suck next year.

Dodgers are better off (and cheaper $$ and years) with Paul Byrd rather than either Garland or Wolfie. Whatever the fascination ever has been with Wolf is beyond me. Sure he's a lefy, but the guy has only won in double digits 1 time in the last *5* seasons, was 12-12 then and has a career ERA of 4.26 and that's in the NL even. That does not sound like the makings of a desirable pitcher to me.

do tha stanky legggggggg
