According to Troy Renck, the Mets signed outfielder Cory Sullivan to a Major League deal worth $600K with $300K in incentives. Sullivan is known as a strong defender, but his plus/minus numbers in 1123 center field innings don't support it.

Nice move for depth. It still doesn't get a starting left fielder, or, far more importantly, the starting pitcher the team needs. Show me a simultaneous signing of Perez and Sheets, and I'll say the winter's work is well done.

isnt this what we got reed for?
how many fringe major leaguers can one team use...enough already.
now watch we lose out on perez over half a mill.

a major league deal is no good though...does he have options remaining?

Oh, good, another lefty bat, just what the Mets needed...

no reed cant hit... this kid seems to have the bat to actually be an everyday OFer IF we need him or he breaks out. Sullivan's numbers with the rockies are quite good, i like the signing

I hope this doesnt mean the mets wont bring pagan back. before he got injured last year he showed promise in the field and at the plate. I think Pagan could be a very valuable reserve player for the mets this season.

i agree about Pagan! last year he was 1st in all preseason testing .

Good move to add more outfield depth. Having to rely on Tatis and an unproven Dan Murphy would be a huge risk. At least with Reed/Pagan/Sullivan/Evans possibly Martinez later in the year, one or a combination of 2 should be able to step up and put up league average numbers. But still if they want to be a contender they're going to need a reliable bat out there at some point this summer.

its only 600k so its not a big deal, but I dont really know his spot on this roster... I am guessing this makes out bench
Tatis/Murphy Cora Sullivan Reed

They are a "contender" as is, however, I do agree they need to add a bat. Hudson/Manny/Dunn any of them would get it done.
One thing, completely unrelated.... I dont understand why i keep hearing rumors with O-Dawg at SS for teams and O.Cabrera at 2B? why would any team do that instead of just signing the other?
