Yankees had so allege interest in Erik Bedard? thats the first time ive heard that...
Posted by: 04Forever | January 03, 2009 at 10:44 AM
Yanks never had interest in Bedard. Abraham is referencing a fake rumor some fans made up and passed around a while back.
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | January 03, 2009 at 10:47 AM
THE NATIONALS DON'T NEED ANY MORE OUTFIELDERS!!!!
Posted by: DCSportsGuy | January 03, 2009 at 11:08 AM
The Blue Jays might be interested in Andruw Jones, but not at the 5m price tag. The Dodgers would have to pick up at least half of that before sitting down to discuss an arm they want in return.

What is Ryan Dempster smoking, he's heard good things about Milton Bradley.
Posted by: jay | January 03, 2009 at 11:13 AM
WTF! What is the deal with the Nats and Ofr's? I really don't get it?
Posted by: rrbass27 | January 03, 2009 at 11:14 AM
I disagree very strongly with Abraham's opinion that the Yankees don't need both Manny Ramirez and one more starter (though not a front end starter). I suggest a Manny Ramirez signing as well as a signing of Paul Byrd or a similar pitcher. I have done breakdowns of the Yankees and Red Sox rosters on my blog to compare and contrast as well as talks about the dollars Manny will receive and links to previews to the 2009 season rosters. Its a very new blog and I'd love to have a few of your opinions (whether I agree with them or not). Check it out if you wish

Sorry to link a blog, but I find it easier to post my link to my opinions on my blog then repeat my same posts multiple times as new information surfaces.

Abraham's is crazy. Listen, we dont need Manny. He'd put us over the top but we dont need him. I agree with Peter on that. However, especially with Orlando Hudson out there, trading Cano for Kemp who could be a perennial all-star in CF is a no-brainer. I love Robbie Cano but Hudson is a better defensive 2B and Kemp is a young monster waiting to happen. I'd trade Cano AND Kennedy to get Kemp and wouldn't think twice. 2nd base is a hell of a lot easier to fill in than CF.

Milton Bradley is a good player. And, the only player he's had an issue with is Jeff Kent, and we ALL know he's a dbag. He's never had an issue with his manager either.
Posted by: melonis rex | January 03, 2009 at 11:21 AM
gianthinker- Cano for Kemp is a deal the Dodgers should never make, for the reasons you stated.
Posted by: melonis rex | January 03, 2009 at 11:23 AM
This is total theory at this point, but Vernon Wells is set to make 10 mill in '09 and 20 mill+ from '10-14. Restructuring Jones' contract could make a Wells/Jones swap financially possible for the Jays. The Dodgers have had serious interest in Wells before and they should have a fairly flexbile payroll going forward (they are one of the only big market teams without a long term "franchise" contract).
Personally, I don't think it makes sense to dump Wells for Jones (since a healthy Wells who reproduces his 2008 offence with reasonable defence suddenly has positive trade value), but if Lind and Kemp/Ethier were added it could make sense for the Jays and Dodgers. Lind/Wells/ Ethier in the outfield is a major upgrade over what the Dodgers employed in 2008 (sans Manny) and they have the bonus of dumping Jones' contract, while in 2010 (when the Jays are expected to compete) a Snider/Rios/Kemp outfield could be elite and the Jays will have financial flexibility to add to a Wells-devoid payroll...

Yes. It is imperative that the Yankees have Manny Ramirez, Matt Holiday, Miguel Cabrera and Albert Pujols - or they may not achieve their God given birthright of winning every single World Series.
WTF is wrong with Yankee fans? A normal thug brings a gun to a knife fight. A Yankee fan wants to bring a bullet proof backhoe with side mountained rocket launchers - just to ensure there is absolutely no possibility of a fair fight.
Posted by: midtown | January 03, 2009 at 01:09 PM
Great comment midtown,
I also dont mind the Hendrickson signing(D-Cab back to the future)
but Hendrickson wasn't brought in to win games. He is here to buy some time til young arms are ready.
O's in 09 (2109)
Posted by: RotoNetwork.com | January 03, 2009 at 01:21 PM
as a tiger fan. Peter you are nuts if you think the Yanks could not use Manny. I know they have a surplus of OF's and well all know the Steins have plenty of it so i could see them eating most of someone's salary to trade him. Could you guys imagine a A-Rod Tex. and Manny as your 3-4-5 hitters. that is just flat out scary
Posted by: allstarlineup | January 03, 2009 at 01:38 PM
sorry. "I know the Yanks have a surplus of OF's and the yanks have plenty of money to eat one of their contracts to trade them to make room for Manny"

Bruce Levine (on talking baseball expn radio 1000) today said the rumors about Roberts for Floyd are not true. And anyone with any baseball knowledge would know that they are absurd. Floyd who is owed next to nothing for one year of Roberts? Get real people.

Last I checked...the name of the game is to WIN a World Series. The Rag Sox have a very good team...and the Rays just went to the WS. That means three of the best teams in MLB are in the same division. It may well take 100 wins to get a playoff spot this year. If YOUR team had the money and had the same big guns in the division, you wouldn't want them to solidify the team? Of course you would...so stop being a freakin hypocrite.
Posted by: jjyankeesfan2 | January 03, 2009 at 04:43 PM
How about:
Reds get: Dye, Cory Wade, $ from Sox
Dodgers get: Jenks,srub, Edwin Encarnacion
Sox get: Kemp, Bailey, ELbert
Posted by: ballerwhiteboy | January 03, 2009 at 04:58 PM
By the way...hearing Theo propose Ellsbury and Buckholtz for Hanley made me actually laugh out loud. That would be like Cashman proposing Melky and Phil Hughes. Theo wasn't even in the same universe. Hanley is possibly a top 5 player in all of MLB and has a very reasonable contract. The Marlins won't even dream of trading him, but if they did...it would take a Lester, Pedroia and Buckholtz type of package. Not a rookie that was rocked last year and a .280 slap hitter with speed.
Crack kills Theo. Just say NO!
Posted by: jjyankeesfan2 | January 03, 2009 at 05:09 PM
Please no more Hanley and Red Sox anything, it took 2 days for that one to cool down here. hahaha

Why are Yankee fans so obsessed with the Red Sox? Collectively, they're like some weird stalking jilted lover.
Posted by: midtown | January 03, 2009 at 07:08 PM
midtown where?:
Trust me yankee fans aren't even half as obsessed with redsux fans as the other way around. We know our organization is superior and that the redsux have done a great job of restructuring their team in recent years. Now we just have to use all resources to get where we belong. WS #27
Posted by: yanksrule | January 03, 2009 at 07:31 PM
redsux...nice one. i mean thats totally the first time i've heard that. good one. ps: im a white sox fan and cubs fans always try and say that. its not funny.
"Now we just have to use all resources to get where we belong."
'To where we BELONG'???? you belong in the dumpster.

"How about:
Reds get: Dye, Cory Wade, $ from Sox
Dodgers get: Jenks,srub, Edwin Encarnacion

How about not. Dodgers give up 3 players for crap? I don't think so.
Posted by: DodgersBruin | January 03, 2009 at 08:09 PM
bwb 2nd class fan:
Yanks 105 - 57 WS # 27
Chi WStanks 75 - 87 especially if those idiots trade Floyd. I'll give you Cabrera, Kennedy and Veres with $10 million which will pay half your payroll for Floyd. Then we'll sign him at 7 year $42 million to take another 105 wins from you over the next 7 years. You can sign Pettitte after that. Idiot.
Sincerely
Posted by: yanksrule | January 03, 2009 at 08:17 PM
Chicago Cubs the classy MLB team of Chicago.
Posted by: yanksrule | January 03, 2009 at 08:19 PM
DB:
Broxton will stay there closer and their bullpen doesn't need much help they need 2 starters to seriously contend. Their not gonna sign Pettitte who I can tell you as a Yankee fan has seen better days. He might still win you 15 but his durability has become suspect and he gives up more hits than ever. If I'm coletti I sign Sheets and an innings eater who can cover for Sheets when he goes on the DL like Mark Buerle who you can get cheap. And PS midtown a yankee fan has no clue whata backhoe is you stupid hick.
Posted by: yanksrule | January 03, 2009 at 08:34 PM
As Yankee GM here are some offers I would make:
Angels:
Figgins and Saunders for Hughes, Kennedy, Matsui and Veres
Astros:
Pence and W. Rodriguez for Kennedy/Matsui/Veres or Hughes/Cabrera/Veres
A's:
Duchscherer and Holliday for
Highes/Kennedy/Cabrera/Veres/Ramirez and Austin Jackson
Posted by: yanksrule | January 03, 2009 at 08:57 PM
I'm gonna go alphabetically through all the teams even the Red Sox
Posted by: yanksrule | January 03, 2009 at 08:58 PM
i got better deals that i would ake if i was a GM.
yankees get: Saunders
willits
Napoli/mathis
Angles get: kennedy
aceves
Cervelli
Veras
Posted by: alex | January 03, 2009 at 09:21 PM
Continued Trade Proposals if I were Yankee GM:
Blue Jays:
Marcum and Rios for Hughes/Kennedy/Veras/Jackson & Cabrera
Braves:
Hudson and McCann for Cervelli and Molina/Hughes and Kennedy

Napoli plays everyday he goes
280/25/80 on the yanks.
Posted by: yanksrule | January 03, 2009 at 09:29 PM
Chi WStanks!!! You might be the smartest yankee fan i know! (thats not saying much) Dude really, no ones impressed by your pet names. the Yankee fans are definitly the dirt of all mlb fans. You are a true idiot.
So the Angels give up a good leadoff hitter and 1 17 game winning LHP for a fizzled prospect, a garbage walk machine, a hobled player who wont play 100 games in a season again, and some scrub?
The Astros give up a star OF and a no. 3 for a garbage RHP, a guy who should be in a retirement home, and a scrub/a fizzled prospect, a bad OF, and a scrub?
The A's trade an ERA king and a mega star all that garbage and a good prospect? Please dont ever post again.
Dodgers Bruin, how is Jenks a scrub? he is a fantastic closer! get your facts right.

yanks 250 homers+ this year
Posted by: yanksrule | January 03, 2009 at 11:08 PM
what an idiot. typical delusional yankee fan. wow. i mean wow. if you were the yanks gm the other teams wouldnt even pick up the phone when they saw your number on the caller id. Lincecum? markakis? king felix? lol oh and by the way... yanks wont even get the wild card this year
Posted by: roguesaw | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 AM
and why dont you wait for cc and aj to play before you crown them kings. pavano was just as touted and injury prone as aj when he signed and i seem to remember another lefthanded cy young switching back to the al as a yankee what was that guys name oh yeah randy johnson... howd that go? oh and what about kevin brown? all the yanks won so far is the most money tossed around contest. lets get to the feild and see what happens.
Posted by: roguesaw | January 04, 2009 at 03:00 AM
and yeah the yanks have more ws victories than the "whimpstanks" or the redsux all time, but i seem to remember those guys have more than your yanks since 2000. money well spent pal.
Posted by: roguesaw | January 04, 2009 at 03:03 AM
roguesaw:
About the redsux see my 7:31 blog. Kevin Brown went 14-13 as a yankee at the age of 39 & 40 with arm & back injury and Randy Johnson won 17 games each season with the yanks you moron.
Posted by: yanksrule | January 04, 2009 at 07:57 AM
Too All Fans:
I love playing around but when it comes to the yankees they do need one back end starter and a centerfielder. And I don't want to hear they have Cabrera and Gardner to play center. They both can defensively play center but they are both lineup killer or rally killers. To all God Bless and have a great season.
Posted by: yanksrule | January 04, 2009 at 08:15 AM
roguesaw:
If Randy Johnson would have won 17 games in each of his full seasons he would have 323 wins right now and probably would have retired.
Posted by: yanksrule | January 04, 2009 at 08:27 AM
where the red soxs fan?
read this! last only 20 seconds so now we can end these rumor.
i laughing that the marlins hung up on the red sox
Posted by: marlinsman1120 | January 04, 2009 at 10:27 AM
Geez, how could the Nats have interest in Jones. They are already backed up with a few mediocre outfielders and they are willing to add another outfielder who played worse than anyone in the majors. I think The Nats should worry a bit more about their bullpen and infield.
Posted by: Fortunate Bob | January 04, 2009 at 11:43 AM
whimp stanks? How does that even remotely sound like white sox? yanksrule, your just dumb. i dont want to get in the same convo as rsd, cuz hes also an idiot.
Posted by: ballerwhiteboy | January 04, 2009 at 12:15 PM
I'm agreeing with roguesaw.
Posted by: ballerwhiteboy | January 04, 2009 at 12:16 PM
"YANKS-DROOL is delusional"
This coming from a m0r0n that calls himself "Red Sox Dynasty"?? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you even know what the word "dynasty" means little boy? I'll give you a hint...winning two World Series in 90 YEARS doesn't qualify.
Posted by: jjyankeesfan2 | January 04, 2009 at 01:23 PM
marlins are just as much of a dynasty of the red soxs
Posted by: marlinsman1120 | January 04, 2009 at 01:49 PM
You Yankees fans have some really funny trade ideas.
I say we let CC, Burnett and the rest of their new toys prove it on the field before you guys claim the '09 WS.
I'd bet anything now that the Yankees still only get in on the Wild card, if they get in at all.
