According to Matthew Cerrone of MetsBlog, the Mets signed infielder Ramon Martinez to a minor league deal. Martinez, 36, spent most of '08 in Triple A for the Mets and Dodgers.

Metsblog sums up the disappointing season last year quite nicely:
"He was the team’s starting second baseman in their final game of the year."

The Mets gave him a non-roster invitation; not a minor league contract.
