Giants are going to get Nick Johnson straight up for whoever whoever doesn't make the team as the fifth starter.

Again, it is HARD to sell tickets when the "star" player is on the DL.

I think Griffey's bigger issue is his production when he's healthy now, rather than his health.
He played in 140+ games each of the past two seasons, and 109+ games in each of the past four seasons.
Considering he would be playing DH, I actually think it's a decent move.

I think Johnson could be a good fit on the Giants. He wouldn't give them the power they crave, but he would give them a productive hitter that is simply an on base machine, and he's also a pretty good defensive first baseman as well.
If he gets hurt, they can just go back to the Ishikawa/Bowker platoon that they are currently planning on using.
Maybe something like Henry Sosa for Johnson?

Zito? Because I doubt Nats want that contract. -_-

ESPN is reporting that the Braves are talking money with Griffey Jr. agent and might make a bid on him.

Hey maybe the Red Sox should pursue Griffey, seeing how JD Drew has apparently reached that portion of his long-term contract where he invents injuries. I think the latest bad back announcement---where'd he hurt it, on the couch watching the Super Bowl?---marks the earliest in the season JD has quit on his team. Makes Manny look like Cal Ripken. Hundred bucks says he doesn't play in over 60 games this year.
