It's probably because any catcher that projects similar to Mark Teixeira as a hitter has HUGE value, in both fantasy and reality.
Every team that passed on Wieters has to be knocked their heads on some sort of hard object. The Pirates actually chose Moskos over him, because of money. THAT is a major flaw in the draft.

I liked that flaw.
I think Wieters could get 350-400 ABs between C and DH. Of course that might have taken a hit with the addition of Wigginton.

That non-choice has a chance to be one people will talk about to death for a long time. If you want to look closer at Wieters, look at Baseball Prospectus' historical analysis on his minor league career. I want to keep my enthusiasm in check with Wieters because he still is a "prospect" afterall, but his minor league career thus far is on historic levels.

Here's a link to that Baseball Prospectus material. This is a Oriole blog that cites the BP info:

Wieters hit a combined .355-27-91-89 between highA and AA. I belive he is ready. And Wren needs to sign Ohman if he is going to. Will could get sick of the F.A expierience and sign cheap somewhere.

The bradford piece is flawed. He forgot to consider the guys above varitek that are relying on great 2007s and bad elias 2008s.
