Who is this character? Never heard of him.

He faded so badly after being an allstar with the dbacks.

Wow, I never thought I would see his name again. He used to be one of my favorite players. He really just fell of the side of the earth.

Didn't he break his hand somewhere back there? I always thought that he never put it back together after that injury.

He was pretty entertaining with the Diamondbacks, I was wondering what happened to him.

So now we add Spivey and Lew Ford to the list of people who have big league jobs ahead of Barry Bonds.

I quite seriously doubt that Spivey or Ford will ever come close to making the MLB roster.

OMG... must be collusion!

I was just thinking the other day, 'what the hell happened to Junior Spivey?'. I'm glad to see he's still in baseball. Unless of course he's out of baseball because he roomed with Jason Grimsley in AZ. It's just so hard to tell anymore.

Wow. Another post about how Barry Bonds is getting screwed over by Athletic Domination. How original...
I'm with you, stellar.

I always liked Spivey, thought he was going to be a really good player at one time.

There is collusion. There has to be. I just can't believe that there are 30 owners and they are all stupid enough to just let a supreme force in the middle of the lineup that is willing to play for minimum wage just sit out there? This guy posted a 170 OPS+ in the last time he played? Do you realize how stupid is that a guy coming off a line of .280/.480/.560, willing to play for minimum wage can't find a job? I don't care if he rolls around the bases in a goddamn wheel chair, or if he stands in LF with a fishing net and catches whatever he can reach without moving. This guy was still easily among a handful or so of the most dangerous hitters in the league when he stopped playing. If he becomes a nuisance, you cut him. If you get press, then so what, no press is bad press, and it will really help one of these small market teams bring in fans. They aren't going to get sellout crowds? They aren't going to get tons of people that want to catch Bonds' last homerun ball ever? How about his 800th homerun if he comes back for two years? There is just no way anybody could ever possibly convince me that having Barry Bonds on your team for the minimum is a bad idea. It is like rejecting Albert Pujols as your DH for the minimum.

why?
Posted by: metsfan23 | March 17, 2009 at 07:47 AM
Why is it that A-Rod is allowed to play baseball while he admitted to cheating yet all 30 teams refuse to allow Bonds to play at the league's "minimum" pay????
Ahhh... Because A-Rod has a Guarenteed Contract!!! That's right.. plus he "admitted" to using only "after" the report named him...
I guess confessing guilt is okay and but not admit it is the REAL crime.
Frankly.. I would sign him in a heartbeat if I had an AL club and just let him rake.
Gotta be better "still" than 50% of all DH's out there...
