« Padres Sign Shawn Hill | Main | Offseason In Review: Florida Marlins »
According to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Reds released veterans Daryle Ward and Aaron Fultz today.
Ward, 33, hit .259/.310/.407 in 29 plate appearances this spring. The Reds apparently couldn't squeeze him in for a pinch-hitting role. Fultz, 35, posted a 3.38 ERA in 5.3 innings.

The Marlins could use both those guys.

Assuming he didn't leave on bad terms last time, Fultz to the Phillies seems an obvious move - he was an effective part of their bullpen in 2005 and 2006, and they could use another lefty in J.C. Romero's absence.

These guys are too old to be sent to AAA they'd probably rather retire, the Reds AAA roster is overflowing right now, it gives them a chance (small one with 2 weeks remaining) to catch on with another team.
Nix now becomes the frontrunner for the last bench spot.
