According to Dave O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the Braves have designated Blaine Boyer for assignment. You can find O'Brien's update in the comments section of the article.
The righty had allowed six earned runs in an inning and a third of work so far in three relief appearances for the Braves.

Boyer's got a live arm, but has gotten away from the slow curve that made his fastball (which is decent) look great.
A good low-risk pickup for a team that can make room for him and be patient/work with him.

Need I remind you that Boyer hasn't pitched good since 2005, and that wasn't a good year for him either. They should of kept McBride and sent Boyer to the Tigers.

Boyer was hurt all of '06, and half of '07. He pitched very well for half the season in '08 but faded in the 2nd half.
I'm not saying he's a savior, just a good project for a team that can take one on.
And McBride? Who cares? Is he even pitching anywhere this year? And he pitched one inning in '08. The guy is 26 years old and has managed to throw 103 innings (majors AND minors) in his career.

(my numbers on McBride are wrong... 103 major league innings... but he's still hurt all the time. No great loss that he's not with Atlanta any more).

Someone will pick up Boyer by Monday. There's plenty of teams that could use him.
But a guy like Boyer in his position and with Atlanta's history of injuries in their pen, I would take the assignment, work out some kinks, get some confidence and just wait for the chance.

Best move the Braves have made in a long time. This guy is a mess. I don't care how live his arm is. he either gives up homers or walks guys...that's it. Any team that touches him will be sorry.

I predict the Atlanta - Kansas City pipeline continues and the Royals grab him.

thank god.

Now all we need to do is get rid of this Jo Jo Reyes trainwreck and we may resemble a mediocre ball club again. Seriously, we have a knack of holding on to worthless players for a tad bit too long.

Jo-Jo was okay til the homer, but, however, he won't last all year, so either call up Tommy Hanson or trade for a 5th starter for say Blanco or one of our bullpen-depth. According to this past 2 weeks, we need to add not subtract from the BP.
