Ben, I think you meant, "... discusses Scott Boras in *light* of the Nick Adenhart tragedy."
"In lieu" means "in place of."

My question is: Is Ozzie going to treat the Wise situation like he did with BA in 2007? After only 2 hits in 17 a bats BA was sent down to the minors and never called up again that season. He is yet to get out of Ozzie's doghouse. Chris Getz can leadoff. I really liked the line-up in last night's game with Fields hitting 2nd. BA needs to be given the starting job in CF. If he hits .250 so what. His defense will win games. The WS have a potent offense, whatever they get out of BA is just a bonus. We need him on the field everyday. Do you remember the Blackout Game last year? Thome hit a homer and BA's diving catch saved the game. Let the kid play!!!!!

I thought Getz and Fields did a good job too last night in 1 and 2. Before the year started I was saying Getz should be the leadoff guy and actually thought Ozzie would put him there. He is a rookie, but if he as confident as the sox say he is and they are as confident in him they say they are, put him there and leave him there. I don't mind Fields hitting 2nd, but think Pierzynski would be better in the long run. I understand that would leave 3 left handed hitters in a row though when Wise is hitting 9th. So far Fields has shown patience to take a walk and showed he can at least bunt for a hit.
The Sox are 1-3, but I'm not terribly worried at all. They aren't hitting much like last year, but the pitching has been very good for the most part. Thornton, Dotel, Linebrink have looked real good. Jenks gave up the HR against Crisp, but I don't worry about him. He's lights outs in save situations which is what he will be pitching in 90% of the time.
I didn't even look at last night as that much of a negative. Contreras wasn't great last night, but he didn't look as bad as I thought he would pitching in his first game after a torn achilles and a very cold night (normally that favors pitchers, but Contreras out pitch is a splitter, and being someone that also threw one in college, if its cold your fingers never can get a good grip on it cause they dry out and its extremely hard to throw)
I really had a good feeling the sox were going to come back and win that game until the twins scored the 7 runs in the 7th. That 7 run inning was all set up by a guy who won't be here in another week or two, Mike Macdougal. Every year the sox are fooled by this guy in spring training. He looks great pitching against minor leaguers in the 7th and 8th innings of split squad games, but as soon as major leaguers see him he can't find the plate and they dont swing at his slider. Last night he threw 8 pitches all balls, turned a leadoff walk into a bases loaded noone out jam. Carrasco didn't look good either, but I think he'll be fine when asked to do what he did last year. I'm not gonna get on a guy for coming into a game when your team is already down by 5 and having the bases loaded. He also got stuck being the fall guy, having to pitch three innings to save the bullpen after the Twins put the game out of reach.
Bottom line is they will probably be 1-4 after Liriano beats Colon, but I've seen nothing that tells me they won't be contending for the division. The main guys will start to hit, the 1,2,3 starters will be good enough, and 4 important guys (Jenks, Dotel, Linebrink, Thornton) in the bullpen will be good

Ouch! If a pitcher is cut from the Padres system he must be pretty bad.
That does not bode well for the state of the Astros farm system.

No hatred intended, but I just can't see a scenario where Houston even breaks even this year. Not with that pitching staff. So much would have to go right for this team. In fact, I think they are closer to a 100-loss team than a winning team at this point.
