Awesome. Is Rocky Roquet related to Rikki Rockett?

I think you've got it backwards - Roquet has been a part of the Cubs' system, and was traded to the A's.

I'd like the Sox to pickup Catalanotto just so they won't have to play against him anymore...he used to give me nightmares when he was with the Jays.

Rocky Roquet is a major sleeper that might have a chance. converted OF has been pitching for only a couple yrs. throws mid high 90's. the cubs thought he was expendable due to his age, AFL sreuggles.

I hope Gwynn's on the way out. The Brewers would be best off going with Chis Duffy as their 4th OF

I think the Rays had one of the best offseasons in the game.
They added a powerful, patient veteran bat to their lineup in Burrell, and managed to add a potential long term right fielder in Matt Joyce, who I would argue is pretty underrated in a lot of baseball circles.
They also added a solid bullpen piece in Nelson, signed some young guys long term and now I would argue that they're probably the most complete team in the game. And the farm system is still stacked.
How can you not love what Friedman, Silverman, Hunsicker and co. are doing in Tampa?

No AB's for Catalanotto in Boston. He bats RH and is a fair corner of/1B at best. If the team had not committed to Kotsay? Maybe, but Kotsay is capable of playing CF and is better defensively.
He's a Sean Casey type, but does not even have the bat that Casey does. If they wanted a bat, just resign the LH hitting and affable Casey.

Cat's a lefty.

Cats a pure Platoon player, and a great 1 half of one at that if you can find someone that Mashes Lefties its a great pair. I mean look how well Cat and Reed Johnson did for the jays.

My mistake and thx mtex.
Kotsay is lefty and like posted, he plays the same + more positions. I'd rather have Casey's bat as a pure hitter over Catalanotto, as Sean proved last season he can handle the pressure very well, hitting .322, with .381 OBP and a 100 OPS in nearly 200 AB of PH and backup 1B play.
Granted, if he had been released earlier in ST Boston may have taken a closer look.

The Red Sox have replaced the Yankees as the ones in the AL East who most covet ex-Rangers. I guess they know where the best hitters come from, but geez.

"Kotsay is lefty and like posted, he plays the same + more positions."
Actually, Catalanotto plays more positions because he throws with his right hand. He can play the IF corners and the OF corners, as well as a little 2B. Kotsay is obviously excellent defensively in CF and at 1B, but he doesn't have the batting upside.

Sean Casey is retired and on TV, so you can't really make the comparison. Also, Catalanotto plays more positions and has come close to winning a batting title in the past.
"I guess they know where the best hitters come from, but geez"
That's a bold statement given the park. Also, Catalanotto wasn't a Texas product.

AA, Boston let Casey go because he was pretty much only a bat should maybe have been what i said. We all know he is retired and on TV (and funny still I enjoy watching him also) and both Cat and Casey are pretty much liabilities with the glove.
Think if Casey was a bit more mobile with his glove, even at 1B only they would have maybe had 2nd thoughts about acquiring Kotsay last year even. Kotsay got the majority of playing time over Kotsay even after Casey's neck healed, pretty much because he was more mobile around 1B, even though he had barely played the position in the majors.

Cat has proven to be a plus OFer, a so-so 1B and a decent 2B.
