Maybe I don't understand the rule. Doesn't a rule 5 player go back to the original team if he is removed from the major league roster?

A, by my understanding, he has to first be offered back to the original team for $25,000.

I think he'll be sent through waivers, at which point any team can claim him. Of course, he'd have to stick on their MLB roster all season.

something about him seems like he wont be successful. maybe it was the low average or maybe it was because he's 25 in AA.
