Good on Rizzo to get the consent, so the Nats draft him and not sign him, they don't lose the pick for good.
If the Nats can sign Strasburg, draft the best player available at #10, and sign him too, that will be a great step forward for the organization.

i agree with melonis.
also, about Fox. If the Nationals can swing trading Nick Johnson, how hard would it be to work getting Fox from the cubs in the deal? I'm thinking somehting like Johnson goes to the MEts (or whoever needs his bat and defense) and the mets send a couple prospects and Oliver Perez to the cubs, Cubs send Fox and a middlign pitching prospect to the Nats.
Oliver perez could be short releif for the cubs, Mets would get a solid 1B for while Delgado is out (and Johnson could later split playing time with Delgado, once he returns, to keep both healthy) and Nationals get young, promising 1B prospect they can rely on while Dmitri young sorts himself out.

That is a horrible trade for the Cubs. I would not give up Fox for Perez and a few prospects. I would rather use Fox in a deal for a proven player or keep him around to platoon with Hoffpauir when Lee is gone after 2010. I just don't want Fox sitting in Triple A for the next 2 seasons.

Jake Fox would be a good fit in the AL. His best position is probably first base, which the Cubs have Lee and Hoffpair. The Cubs tried him at third and LF in spring, and he was brutal at third, and LF may work. He originally was a catcher and that position is filled by Soto. He definately deserves to play somewere in MLB, but sadly its probably not with the Cubbies.

Maybe the Cubs can swing a deal with Fox and pick up a quality pitcher.

Anyone read Olneys article about Manny???
What kind of LSD laden parallel universe is he writing about?? Manny to Japan?? Dunn signing a 4/$50M contract in this economy??
These guys need to go back to basics & stick to reporting the NEWS and FACTS, not fantasizing about some fictional world without PEDs...Write something actually WORTH READING!

I agree with kidlax17. That article was ignorant.

Maybe swap him with the Braves for Morton or Reyes? He could backup or try out some LF until he's big-league proven. Seems like a win-win.

Trade Fox before he becomes Pie or Cedeno. Take a young pitching or position prospect we can use in 1-4 years. Isn't there another catcher or two after him showing big league potential?

Hopefully the Cubs can find a decent reliever if they shop Fox packaged with another solid, lower level prospect. I really don't believe that Patton deserves to be in that bullpen right now.
