Rays right-hander Jason Isringhausen was placed on the 60-day disabled list Sunday morning with an injury to his surgically-repaired right elbow, leading some in the media, including the St. Petersburg Times' Joe Smith, to speculate that the 36-year-old former closer may soon call it a career.

The Cardinals rollercoaster closer, if he decides to retire, will have had one heck of a career all things considered.

Well, I too am a Cards fan, kinda sucks to see him go out like this, was hoping I'd get to see him at least get his 300th save before he left the game.

I remember when Izzy came up to the bigs with the Mets in 1994 as part of "Generation K" and a lot of hype. He was the only successful one out of the three -- the other two were Bill Pulsipher and Paul Wilson.
