A few links for a night that has, so far, been a tad less exciting than the one previous in our realm. Congrats to Randy Johnson on his big day.

Mark Bowman reports that the decision to cut Tom Glavine was based "solely on performance" and not for financial reasons.
----------------
What performance? He didnt throw a pitch this year.
What a load.

OK first off xethicx "What performance? He didnt throw a pitch this year. What a load." Yea that's right he didn't throw a pitch which he was paid to do from the beginning of the season there for he didn't perform. Out of him, john, and Hampton atl felt Tommy would be the best out of the three (or wanted at least one lefty) he never pitched and by the time rehabbing finally had him throwing scouts and experts says Tommy Hanson was ready which you, me, and Tommy G all knew was coming up this year. ATL knew there was going to be a great chance this would happen in his contract they was going to give a 1mil bonus if he actually started. Yes they my handle it kinda wrong but we are too close in the division to be playing .500 ball we got to get a spark going so this team can perform like we all know they can. Much respect to Glavine for all his work but I'm still pissed about NY.

The idea that money wasn't a part of the Glavine decision is laughable. Of course that factored in. He still didn't prove he deserved a roster spot over Hanson. It was the right move. Wren's real problem was re-signing him in the first place. It was clear last year even before the injury he was washed up.

What would the asking price be for Cody Ross? He could help a few teams, including the Braves.

"What performance? He didnt throw a pitch this year."
The minor league performances that caused Atlanta scouts to unanimously declare that he couldn't get major leaguers out throwing 72-mph fastballs.
