The Brewers probably could've used Capuano, he was pretty solid for them the past couple years.

With Parra struggling, it would've been nice to look ahead to Capuano making a return in August. He was a solid lefty...for one season!

Damn, i was on the edge of my seat wondering if Capuano was gonna pitch this year!!!!!!

Why not get the surgery, then sign a 1 year deal with someone (or accept arb from the Mariners, who should offer considering that they have nothing at 3B), reestablish your value, and then go sign a big deal somewhere.
Beltre's defense is still freaking awesome and he's still a really good player, but he's not going to get too big a contract with that bat.

lol ok so... Beltre doesnt want teams to question his health when thinking about signing him?
Yah.. uhm, thats like telling your girlfriend "hunny, dont worry about seeing me kiss that other girl, its all good, dont question it".
I have no doubt that someone will sign him for good money but shoulder surgery will completely factor into any teams offer, especially for a power hitting 3rd baseman. He has to come to the reality that any kind of surgery cuts down a player's free agent worth, even if they come out of it AOK.
How much money does he lose is the question.

xethicx - I think the point is that Beltre has surgery sooner rather than later, he'd have time to come back and re-establish that he's healthy, and be able to pass any physical that any interested club would put him through. The surgery is to clean up bone spurs, not fix any ligament damage, so it isn't that big of a deal.

Beltre, at this point would probably be better off accepting arbitration with the M's and re-establishing his value. It works for the M's too because they have nothing in the system to replace him with.

Beltre is a Boras client. Teams are going to do everything to knock down his ridiculous price tag.

Strong scouting presence in Cuba, eh? I'll believe it when we get a Dayan Viciedo of our own.
