If any pitcher signs a $200M contract, it's going to be Felix Hernandez.
An absolute monster that misses bats and induces groundballs, he'll be an absolute ace when he hits free agency at age 25.
I put him up there with Santana, Haren, Billingsley, Greinke, Sabathia, Halladay, and the other top aces in the game.

the felix hernandez article leads to the andy phillips signing with the hiroshima carp.

I wouldn't necessarily put Billingsley or Greinke in that elite status, yet. The elites, as I see them, are only Santana, Halladay, and Lincecum. Maybe Sabathia. Greinke is just having his first great season, and Billingsley and Felix in the next couple years will be there.

This isn't Yankee bias....but CC has out pitched Johan for 2 and a half years now. Not only statistically but head to head in 2007 and 2008....I'm not saying he is the better career pitcher, but he is definitely an elite at this point. Plus this is only Lincecums 2nd good season so I'm not really following the logic here if Greinke can't be included now.
It is going to be absolutely nuts when Felix hits free agency though. 25 years old and most likely one of the best pitchers in the game. I agree he might be the first 200 million dollar contract and think he goes to the Red Sox or Yankees just because they will do everything in their power to stop him from going to the enemies team or even a contenders team.
Its just mind boggling how good he is right now and how much he has done in the league and he is only 23!!!!

How do you not put Grenike and Bills in the elite group?
For that matter King Felix?
