i'd love to get Halladay but I don't even know if the Jays would accept Brown, Drabek, Carrasco, Taylor and Happ.
I'd try to give up all but Carrasco and go with a rotation of Hamels, Halladay, Carrasco, Blanton, Moyer.
Again a pipe dream, but its my pipe dream!

Mark Shapiro might have to throw that folding chair. The PTBNL quality just went down.

The Jays would easily accept Brown/Drabek/Taylor/Happ.
Easily. That's 3 elite prospects and a guy who can plug into the rotation now and has done well at the MLB level.

i wouldnt want to do that from the phils end. it would be carrasco brown carpenter and plus another prospect

alright I was out this morning and got a bit giddy when thinking about the prospects of Halladay. I'm imaging which 1 and 1a are/were better.
Hamels and Halladay or Schilling and Johnson???
Agreed. If i had my ways I would give up Carrasco, Brown, Carpenter and say Cloyd.
I'd love to stay away from Drabek, Taylor and Knapp but realizing we're getting a year and a half of him we may not be able to.
How about Carrasco, Werth, Cloyd,Carpenter for Halladay and BJ Ryan???

As brutal as Werth can be at times against righties I don't think Mayberry is ready for a full-time role, if he ever will be. We need Werth this year, especially with our lefty heavy lineup. Wouldn't mind at all trading Mayberry in a package for a pitcher as he may have built a little bit of interest so far this year.
Also, wouldn't Halladay+Ryan be way too much money for the Phils to take on? Personally, I wouldn't be interested in paying an injury-prone, underachieving reliever $10 million next year when we have a good bullpen as-is.

carlos,
love the name btw. I was thinking more of considering bringing up Taylor and let him "suffer a bit" and keep him safer in the 7th spot in the lineup.
I don't want Ryan either as we don't have a need for him now but i'm figuring it would help convince them to make the deal and we'd hopefully have to give up less top prospects.

Yea, makes sense, I just don't know how Taylor would adjust and honestly don't think anyone does. Who knows how a player is going to react to being thrown into the middle of a playoff race? That being said, I've honestly never seen him play so I won't act like I'm qualified to make a decision on him...
It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a guy like Ryan, but with Romero and Eyre who will both be around next year, I think we'll be alright. The way the Phillies spend money though, even while they've been willing to shell out a bit more, Ryan's contract would really, really hurt next year. We will need a new 3rd baseman (though I wonder if Donald could step in there at least as a stopgap if not traded?) and also some more pitching.

carlos,
i've seen taylor in person a couple times in Lakewood when he was younger. He just seemed a man among boys and hope that if we protected him (batted him 7th or lower) he wouldn't be looked at to do too much right away.
Again I'd sacrifice Werth if it helped get Halladay. Him and Hamels in a potential postseason rotation would be great!!

There was a segment on MASN of Nick Markakis balancing a large 8 foot folding table on his chin. It's pretty unreal and very random. You know there are worryworts who want a clause in his contract about this. ha.
