Odds And Ends: Vinicio, Sano, Mets

More links for the afternoon...

The ball's in your court Neal. Sano wants to play for us, so just pony up enough money and we'll get our guy.

First off I hate the Mets and even I am starting to feel bad for them.

Secondly with this news on Sano the Pirates need to make absolutly sure not to get outbid by a wide margin. I think if the Pirates offer just as much or at least relativly close money to whoever else is in the bidding, they should bring the kid in.

And that's the end of the O's interest in Sano, if true. From all the comments coming out of the draft regarding the Hobgood pick, Macphail is looking for players who want to be in Baltimore. And if that isn't what Sano wants, he's not going to bring him in as a mercenary.

Huntington should frame that article. It has got to be the first time anyone has every said that.

At least in the last 17 years.

lol, this statement is, sadly, but most likely true, at least since their run of losing started.

If they sign Sano it would be amazing for my confidence as a Pirate fan. You add to that so far in his pro career Tony Sanchez has a line of .380/.483/.560 and it is starting to look better to be a Pirate fan. Granted Sanchez has a small sample size but he has looked very good so far. I think other than Strasburg and maybe the two guys that got drafted out of Indy ball (Crow, Scheppers) he will be the first in his class to the MLB.

BucSox, I believe that Sanchez has a very, very good chance of being a successful major league catcher. I've heard that his defense could evolve into something like Yadier Molina's. That alone would be good, but if he hits well too, it would just be great for the development of this franchise.

Okay, one, who is Cameron Smith, two, why is he writing stories about Omar Minaya and his job, and three, what is a Washington reporter who doesn't have any knowledge of the Mets doing discussing their plans. I have seen more grission attacks by columnists who don't actually cover the Mets over the last couple of weeks then I have seen pointless, meaningless Michael Jackson coverage. It is rather ridiculous.

the blue jays shood trade doc halladay to the m's 4 morrow, lowe bedard and washburn

looking out for their own best interests instead of their clients, real classy. and agents wonder why everyone despises them, lol.

Wow, are they really gonna blame Minaya for Beltran, Reyes, Delgado and now Martinez injured? What a joke if they fire him..

MrPhilly: No, they're not. This writer is clueless. Omar's new contract doesn't start until next year. Who are they gonna hire to fix Omar's mess. I wouldn't want that job and I'm a Mets fan. Actually I would love to have that job. Mets fans would love me.

If the Jays trade Doc it means they are not expecting to compete this year... so they want to trade for two expiring contracts? Sounds good to me.

If you were actually still wondering if the Jays were planning on trading Halladay or not look no further than the pitcher abuse list. We should start calling this the Sabathia rule: managers protect a pitchers arm until they realize they won't have them next year. We see this in high school and college all the time, a manager riding the senior into the dirt to advance i the playoffs, now we're really seeing it in the pros as well.

nrmax is right. That WaPo article is just the writer speculating without a lick of evidence or even an indication that he has any inside knowledge at all.

come on Mets. its not fun to beat you when you're a AA team.

In all seriousness I don't think i've ever seen a major league team beat up as much as they are in their offense.

Back in 06 the Phils lost 4/6 of their starting rotation and two relievers to injuries at one point or another in the season (Gordon and Madson)(Garcia, Lieber, Hamels, Myers) but I've never seen such a combination of being decimated by injuries as the 2009 Mets.

youve lost your mind. The yanks can not get HALLADY PEVAY LACKEY WEBB HOLLIDAY KINSLER CHIPPER MAUERBAY IBANEZ PENA PUJOLS. you need some help. For the rest of you say I if u thinnk Kenny's lost it.

well mister kenny if we were talking about the phils and yanks chasing after a free agent than i guess no one would argue with you. but we are not. we are talking about a trade. and i hate to burst your profanity laced bubble but frankly the phils have far more to offer. sorry. unless you guys wanna deal austin joba and hughes i cant see the jays trading him to you. if not the phils certainly boston or the dodgers. both have much more to offer.

yeah kenny, why would the jays give halladay THE BEST PITCHER IN BASEBALL for 1 very good prospect, a reclamation project in wang and a former prospect who now is just a good fielder and average hitter 3 or 4 outfielder?

None of those players have a spot on the Blue Jays. They want catchers, middle infielders, and young high upside pitching. Nobody you list follows that criteria.

Apparently, obvious troll is not nearly as obvious as one would assume.

"Apparently, obvious troll is not nearly as obvious as one would assume."

Huh?

People are just jumping on the Minaya hating band wagon for popular media coverage at this point.

I do agree Minaya has to go, but I do not believe this guy decided it for himself....I think he just heard the constant bagging on Minaya and decided to jump in since nobody can really get any new insight on the Nationals because they are just plain awful in pretty much every and we already knew this.

It is not Minaya's fault for Delgado, Reyes and Beltran going down. It is his fault however, for signing Oliver Perez to an atrocious contract and actually thinking he would live up to it, it is his fault for banking on a 37 year old first basemen who has had 1 good half in 2 years to stay healthy plus be a major fixture for their offense (how you do not get a suitable backup for 1b is beyond me), it is his fault for having very little pitching depth in both the rotation and the bullpen....if it weren't for Nieve having the month of his life I think Mets fans would have Minayas head.....plus Nieves magic is running out...I think he has like 30 hits and 10 walks in his last 15 innings pitched.

It is his fault for having a depleted farm system in which nobody can step up for even a short period of time.

and most of all......

it is also his fault for sticking with a manager who cannot get his MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYERS to make the plays that a high school team is supposed to and would be embarrassed if they did not.

YAWN.

HAHA wow what a shocker F-Mart is injured again

Wow, are they really gonna blame Minaya for Beltran, Reyes, Delgado and now Martinez injured? What a joke if they fire him..

i dont think you can blame him for the injuries but you can for some of the decisions within the past few seasons
