The Phillies are going to watch Pedro Martinez throw today, but he'll need more than an impressive workout to latch on with the NL East leaders, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney.

"One scout who watched Manny Ramirez this week said he looked "heavy-legged" and out of shape."
Maybe they should administer a maternity test.

pedro + phillies + Cit. Bank Park = good for rest of NL East.

Billy Beane posturizes. Of course he doesn't HAVE to trade Holliday, but he should if the offer happens.
And, A's trades are rarely "A's in negotiation with X team for Y player" for some extended period of time. They just happen.

Please dont post columns from ESPN where you need to be an "insider". It is just another way for money-grubbing ESPN to suck the life out of sports fans, besides most of it is worthless anyway.

One scout said many looked heavy legged and out of shape? I am no scout, but I saw a lot of tape of the guy coming back and he looked as lean as I have ever seen him. One can knock Manny for this or that thing, no shortage of places to look, but by basically all accounts, the guy works his ass off.

A's Fans, or Tim. Would the A's want anything from the Reds for Hariston and Gio Gonzales?
