Absolute steal. I love it.

Great sign, the Twins really couldn't afford to let a talent like Gibson to get away. The fact that they got him for less than $2 million is just a bonus.

Completely agree RunLeft. Looking at the money spent on the Top 5 picks, where Gibson was originally projected, $1.8MM is an absolute steal.
An arm of that caliber, for that money... looking forward to seeing Gibson, Baker, and Slowey in the rotation in 2011... along with God knows who else. Sure isn't looking like Perkins, Liriano, or Blackburn =\

This is a risk given his shoulder, and now arm, injuries but 1.8 for Gibson is a pretty solid deal for the Twins organization considering this was a top arm in the draft.

His arm only suffered a stress fracture though. I'm surprised he fell this far... if it had been a ligament or tendon issue, something actually structural, I could see that.
A stress fracture though, I'm not nearly as worried about.
And like you said, to get someone who was considered the #2 college arm in the draft for $1.8 at #22... I'm all smiles. :)
All Twins fans should be.
