Come on JR. Seattle didn't get a chance to give a proper season long fairwell festival. Come on back.
While you're at it, put together a 40 Year Old Bonds (minus the syringes) type season and hit 70 HRs to get to 700.
That's all I ask, not much.

And I am sure the Twins want Cuddyer to finish his career with the Twins. I a few years Kubel will be gone via free agency and then Cuddyer can move to the DH and all the prospects can come up. Hicks-Revere-Span.

Even though I don't think it will happen, I really hope Pettitte comes back for one more year.
Posted by: Agent | November 06, 2009 at 10:48 AM
Agent- why do you think Pettitte won't be back? All indications I've read seem to think it's an easy decision for both sides.

My main memory of Belcher is when Jose Canseco hit that grand slam in the first inning (off the camera in CF) of Game 1 of the World Series. Of course that game ended a bit better for the Dodgers than it began.

Griffey~ the question is what is the time frame for soon? tonight? tomorrow? a week (like last year). I feeling he will play in Alanta this year with Cox leaving following 2010 seaon.

Uh, yeah they did. It was called 2009. If they didn't properly honor him it was their fault because they did in fact have the chance.

That would be awesome for him to have a 70 HR Bonds type season and win the MVP.
I just love watching that swing.

Uhhhh no they didn't. How do you properly have a retirement ceremony if a player hasn't announced retirement?
It would be like having a season long goodbye for Cal Ripken Jr. in 1999.

i really really wish he was healthy with the reds as he could have his 700th , that would be special and to go back to seattle and end it.. i would like to see him comeback at least for 1 year he seems to have alot of there and if he dosent i wish you luck Ken on a amazing career

What about Delmon Young buddy?

To tell you the truth, it's just a feeling I have. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Andy back for another season. But I had this same feeling about Mussina and he ended up retiring. I hope that I'm wrong haha.
Posted by: Agent | November 06, 2009 at 01:44 PM
I agree with Agent. I like Andy, too. He's a great middle-of-the-rotation pitcher that rarely gets hurt (seemingly). He's always been reliable and his numbers have been pretty steady. But I think it's time for him to retire, while he's on top.

You really think Delmon's going to be around in a few years? If he does, I can't imagine he'd want to re-sign. The relationship isn't very good. I'd be surprised if he's on this team past July 2011. If I were Bill Smith I'd non-tender him right now.
Posted by: Twins777 | November 06, 2009 at 02:07 PM
Andy will take time off to think as usual, we wont find out until January so theres no point of sitting here wondering.
Oh, and glad to see there are no Red Sox fans here saying that Matsui is a bum of a DH and should retire. Although his regular season didnt shut them up for some reason, his playoff sure did.
Posted by: Deanezag | November 06, 2009 at 02:13 PM
Red sox fan here...Matsui is def. not a bum..there are few players on the yanks who are respected by RSN and Matsui is one of them..hes a class act and I hope to see him playing for a few more years...just not in NY :)

You don't non-tender a 24 year-old former #1 overall pick who hit .340/.364/.544 after August. Maybe he never lives up to the hype (the BB rate is troubling), but far too early to throw in the towel.

chowdah- Matsui gets no love from RSN on this site atleast. I think he'll be back, no reason not to bring him back, at a discounted price though. Even if they want to rest DH Posada and others more, Matsui never made a big deal about moving to DH and resting himself, always a team player.

I'm a Red Sox fan, but have great respect for many Yankees. Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Pettitte should all be HoF-bound. A-Rod, Teixeira, Sabathia, Burnett, Joba, Hughes, etc. They're all great players. The only real problems I have with the Yankees is with re upper management. They seem to be way too reliant on Free Agency nowadays when looking for firepower. Some teams can get that from their farms, some can't. I know the Yankees have Cano, Melky, Gardner on the roster for position players (Cervelli and Peña too) that they raised, but the rest are from the 90s or signed via free agency.
That's the only problem I have. Why I can't stand The Boss lol.

How many homegrown players do the Sox have on their team? Youk, Pedroia, Lester, Buchholz, Paplebon, Bard, Delcarmen, Lowrie.
Yankees had: Posada, Cano, Jeter, Melky, Gardner, Pettitte, Joba, Hughes, Mo, Robertson, Wang.
"but the rest are from the 90s"
So they should be punished because they developed players who have been great for a long time?

Wonder if Oliver will accept arbitration? He's getting expensive but he is still darn effective.

No towel! Twins would be foolish to non-tender Young. With the trade of Gomez, the Twins outfield appears to be Young, Spann, Cuddyer.
Could be traded I suppose but Bill Smith cannot just let him walk with nothing back. Delmon Young still has too much value.

Not at all. I referenced the Jeters and the Riveras. I was just saying their legit firepower (A-Rod, Teix, Swisher, Matsui) were acquired via trades or free agency. The main hitters in the Sox' lineup (Ellsbury, Pedroia, Youkilis) were from their own farm.
I was not in any way calling out the Yankees or their fans. I'm not one of those Red Sox fans who hate everything Yankees for no reason whatsoever. I respect the Yankees greatly, and have no reason to hate them.

The best Tim Belcher moment of all-time was in like the early 2000's maybe even 99' I was at an Ana V. La, at Dodger Stadium and it was Belcher V (Chan Ho)Park. AT BAT: Park sacrifices and Belcher fields the ball and tags him out and momentarily after he is tagged Park jump kicks Belcher in the face and the benches cleared. I never found out if Belcher said something or pushed him to start the fight but they show it time to time on ESPN and it's a great memory of mine.

Lowell, Beckett,Varitek via trade .Ortiz,Drew via FA. Wakefield FA or trade I forget. To name a few+ all the retread pitchers signed via FA in 2009.
Arod ,Swisher via a trade
Matsui,Tex,Damon via FA
Burnett and C.C. via FA.
I'd say it's pretty close to being a wash.
