Figgins isn't that good and for an Agels fan like me I'm happy He's going. Then we can get a power third baseman

The Rays will have a rotation of:
Garza
Shields
Price
Niemnann
Sonnanstine
Bring Davis up in June or let him stand by in case of injury.

At least Figgins is a better player than you are a speller, "Agels fan".

Why do people insist that a 3B has to be a power hitter? As long as your other positions come with some power. For instance if Chone had Tori Hunter's #s and vise versa then I doubt anybody would have a problem with it. Point is that the Angels have one of the best lead off men in the league. He just doesn't play the usual CF or SS. I'd take Chone on my team, the Astros, any day even though we'll never have him.

Wait, wait, wait....Peter Gammons just got done saying torre hated LA and his early retirement was imminent. And kurchjian was declaring them insolvent cuz they couldnt even pay for randy wolf again. You know when do we stop calling these guys experts and start leaving them to their verbal bjs of the red sox and yankees respectively? Lets stop calling them and rosenthal experts because they never seem to be right about anything which is what happens when you editorialize trade rumors. its a slippery slope...you want to soon be referring to jon kruk as an expert on anything. ESPN is garbage dont follow suit. Stop running the dodgers name thru the mud like they were the padres. They just missed the world series by 3 wins.

The Phillies won't sign Mora. If they get rid of Feliz they will aquire a long term third baseman
Posted by: Chris | November 08, 2009 at 01:33 PM
i hope they dont sign mora he's older than pedro. At the all star break this season, when i realized that beltre was going to be on the market, i was hoping ruben would take a stab at him. This will happen, and it will be the phils biggest offseason move (other than the lockup of cliff lee). financially the phils gotta consider how much they already have committed to the 2010 roster-i think about 115mil or so. They still NEED to sign blanton, happ, and ruiz--would be surprised if all 3 got 2-3 year deals. Beltre, 2 bullpen guys, and maybe a platoon player like a dobbs/bruntlett. I would be more than pumped to see beltre.

**wouldn't*** be surprised if happ, blanton, ruiz got multiyear deals

Missed that - where did Torre say he "hated LA"? Link please.
As for the Rays, how is Sonnanstine a better rotation option than Wade Davis? That would be a blatant caes of pushing back free agency / arb clock.

he didnt say he denied it. Gammons said it. It was some of his moronic speculation.

here is a transcript of what Gammons said in that interview

Leave it to the Rays to nearly give away the wrong guy. The keep Andy Sonnanstine after he has a freak season after 2008, but give away Edwin Jackson to
Detroit who actually had good stuff. Sonnanstine comes back down to earth with his crappy stuff and quickly pitches himself back to AAA and Jackson
dominates in Detroit.. Way to go Rays, as if it's not bad enough you give away Aki, Shields because won't spend one thine dime to help the team in the
middle of a playoff hunt, but you give away the wrong players to boot.
Hope the Rays enjoyed 2007, it's going to be a loooong time getting another chance.
Posted by: johns | November 08, 2009 at 03:41 PM
Sonnanstine will NOT be in the Rays rotation, not one iota of a chance.
Johns, you might want to get the players names right if you're going to try and bash the Rays, not to mention the season we won the AL. We didn't trade Shields, we traded Kaz and his huge contract. Also, we won the AL in 2008, not 2007.
