besides me
anyone here thinks that chapman and hechevarria are going to be big time busts???????
venn177
Chapman is a lefty that consistently breaks 100mph. At worst he becomes a helluva set-up man that makes batters fear for their lives due to having no control.
At best, he becomes the next Ron Guidry. Or more, who knows?

I dont know much about Hechavarria, but Chapman wont be a bust in my opinion.
Rich_in_NJ
Why? How much have you seen of either of them?
venn177
As for Cordero, I can see him being a serviceable reliever again.
bobbybaseball
Cordero? Only if he goes back on the juice…
Bravoboy10
Just out of curiosity what inclines you to think he was on steroids? He’s not a big guy and didn’t over power guys when he was shutting people down for a few years.
bobbybaseball
Actually I have no reason to think that, was just thinking that afetr being away from the game so long he could something to boost him up. But just because someone isn’t big doesn’t eman they didn’t use the stuff. The guys that ballooned up like Sammy, McGwire and Bonds worked out like fiends and took steroids. If you simply take them and don’t lift weights, you may not get that big. Lots of pitchers used so that their arm would recovery a lot quicker. But yeah, a significant drop in velocity is usually a tell-tale sign.
BIGPELF
because baseball years ago was steroids guy vs steroids guys.
for example
Barry Bonds(roids)vs kawakami(no roids)
Barry Bonds would bomb him every time
BUT!!!!
Barry Bond(roids)vs curt shilling(roids)
Its an even match up
jill
It would be a nice story if Cordero did make it back. He was on the top of the world, has the worst kind of shoulder surgery a pitcher can get, works his way back for two years, and finally appears on a ML mound. Yeah, I’m rooting for Chad.

Mike Stanton? Isn’t 57 a little old to be considered a prospect? 😉
BIGPELF
thats what i think

It would probably make sense for the Marlins to leave Stanton in the minors all year and give him a chance to make the MLB in early 2011.
SheShouldBeUpset
Are you serious? That will not happen. June 1st is coming and thats when he will get called up.
alxn
Who are they going to bench? It is hard to imagine a rookie Stanton outperforming any of the current Marlins starters. There’s no reason for the Marlins to rush him when he doesn’t even have a spot on the current team.

The only bust on this page is Haeger.
