Seriously though, agree with Osfan – why? Don’t they have a peanut chucker they can give the job instead?

With Reimold being unable to play the outfield regularly (due to mobility problems after his injury last year), the Orioles called up Lou Montanez to split time in LF. This left the Tides (the AAA affiliate) with only 3 outfielders. At this point it is just depth, hopefully after Jeff Salazar and Joey Gathright.

He’s getting paid close to minimum to fill Pie’s spot for about a month or so. If he can translate some of his natural talent into some baseball production…then great. If not, he’s sent back into the junk heap he was dug out of and nobody will ever care.
Why do people act like this is some major commitment? Signing a player who was once a highly touted prospect to a minimum contract to fill a gap for a couple weeks isn’t the end of the world. If he plays well, he’s a free asset of some kind. If not, he’s simply cut and no harm done.

normally agree 100%, but in the case of someone like Patterson? Well, there seems to be better chances to take then someone who has pretty much been worthless for years.
That said, if the team just has no one that would benefit from a cup of coffee and there is just no one else out there… Well, I still think they would be better off using someone they have. But hey, at least I will openly admit my bias regarding Patterson :p
