I am hoping that he is used in a PH role more or less exclusively, and that the change of scenery and perhaps the move back to the NL is good for him.
The Giants need right-handed bats coming off the bench, and I suppose he’s a decent riposte to Giambi in Colorado and Stairs in San Diego, but it remains to be seen if Bochy actually winds up using him that way should he make it back to the majors.

Ha! Good luck Giants, if I were you, I’d keep him in AAA

I know that self promotion is the mating call of the mute button, but I called this when there was talk about an out clause on the previous Burrell thread…
The Giants are going to have to make a decision soon, because Rent and DeRosa are coming back in two weeks unfortunately. I say unfortunately because they are two injury prone players at this point and I think DeRosa better just have the second surgery so he doesn’t further injure his hand. Really interested to see what they do.

I agree, I’m hoping that now with Posey called up to split time at 1B/LF that they tell Derosa to go ahead and get the surgery now and get healthy for a late Aug return to possibly help on a playoff run.

I hope the Giants have DeRosa go with the wrist surgery, because DeRosa wanting to “grinding it out” will result in two things 1. Further injury 2. Further decline in stats

I was going to say “Dodger fan insert lame comment” but they are already here…
It’s a minor league deal. Nothing wrong with a deal like this for any team! He will be a pinch hitter in the 7th or 8th.

Its funny because a fellow Giant fan liked his comment.

Even funnier…Garrett Anderson is starting today for the Dodgers!

Even funnier… in three weeks, Pat Burrell will be your full time RF!

Just like Cain will regress??
FAIL!

Cain is 0-7 vs. who?

Oh yes, the guy who has never posted an xFIP under 4.22(last year) and has a 4.38 xFIP this year. Combine the 237 BABIP and I think you can say he has gotten lucky and plays in a very unneutral ball park…

LOL!!!!
So he got lucky in his past FORTY FOUR starts?? I guess your right. It can’t possibly be that he is 25 (still under the prime age for a pitcher) and learning to be more of a pitcher than a thrower.
Sorry, but you no longer have any credibility with me. Enjoy your Dodger homerism.

Is that a attack on our offense or something? I am sorry Ethier was hurt?

Worth a shot. Won’t hurt them financially.

Now Brian Sabean’s master plan is coming together.
Over 30. Check.
Can’t play the field. Check.
Can’t hit for average. Check.
Seriously though, I would imagine he’s just a pinch-hitter / occasional starter, so no harm in this I suppose.
