D-backs should trade Chris Young to Atlanta for some mediocre minor league pitching. He is at his highest possible sale value, OPSing a respectable .826 so far in 2010, over 100 points better than 2009. This would be a great time to dump this $20+ million he is owed over the next 3 years, and Atlanta could use another right handed bat with some power in left field. With Chipper’s retirement announcement looming, Fran Wren has some extra money to play with next season and Young could seem like a bargain if he plays like this for the next 3 years.

Mediocre pitching? Yeah, no thanks.

IPK is once again untouchable.

The Cardinals need Kelly Johnson. The Rangers need Chris Snyder. The Mets need Dan Haren. The Reds need Chad Qualls. The Yankees need Chris Young. The Tigers need Stephen Drew. The Rangers need Adam LaRoche. That is where I see the need for these players….

“The Yankees need Chris Young.”
No, they really don’t.

“The Reds need Chad Qualls.”
…I think you forgot to tack this on to that sentence “…about as much as a hole in the head”.

Cardinals don’t need Johnson either. Lopez is a mroe than adequate option to replace Skip should he keep struggling.

So if the D-Bags are trading just about everyone, doesn’t that make Mark Reynolds available? Why is nobody mentioning him? Where does HE fit? What’s his asking price?
TigersLoveCinnamon
That would be fail on so many levels. Reynolds is 26 years old, already one of the premiere power hitters in the league and just about to hit his prime. The only way that would happen is if they went into full on rebuild ala Marlins. The haul would have to be huge.

I would think the twins would be asking about Johnson, he is somewhat versatile, relatively cheap and having a great year…And Qualls could fit in nicely into the Cubs bullpen…very nicely

As noted in the Berkman discussion, teams are valuing prospects more than ever. Thus, hard to imagine that a team would give much for Qualls or LaRoche (or Edwin Jackson, for that matter). And the D-Backs might get someone worthwhile for Haren, but probably not enough to justify trading him.
Admittedly, the D-Backs are having a horrible season, but I just don’t see them going crazy as sellers. Maybe they trade LaRoche at the deadline, but that’s about it. They probably will continue to pick up Ayala and Willis-like castoffs and throw them against the wall to see if any stick.

i dont really care who they trade but as long as they find good prospects that are major league ready and a very good replacement left fielder (im not a big fan of parra)
ericwhin
Hope they don’t trade Haren. He’s their best HITTER right now!

What would be the Red Sox price on Mark Reynolds?

We need to fire Hinch before we trade any of Drew,Haren,Upton,Miggy,Reynolds, and Young. Hinch is completely clueless as a manager. He is not capable of making a decent lineup. When you drop Upton from the 3/4 hole to 7 and replace him in the 3 spot with Reynolds, it just shows he has no idea what he is doing. Plus I think he is obsessed with alternating right and left handed hitters in the lineup. Im fine with Johnson leading off, but why not try Young up there again and put Kelly in the 3 hole. I would like to see a lineup of Young, Drew, Johnson, Upton, Reynolds, Laroche, Miggy, and Parra, or drop Drew to 3 and switch Johnson and Parra.
