Can people PLEASE stop linking Pierzynski to the Brewers? Not only are the Brewers likely sellers at this point, but Kottaras has been one of the best offensive catchers in the majors so far this season and Lucroy, the Brewers-catcher-of-the-future, is on the team as well.

Pierzynski would be a good addition for the Brewers, mostly because in addition to being able to hit decently, he is a good defensive catcher who knows how to block the plate. Kotteras is a good hitter but is a very poor defensive catcher who should’ve been given a passed ball last evening and wasn’t (Manny Parra got an undeserved “wild pitch” instead, when replays showed that Kotteras clearly missed the ball, a very catchable one, I might add). Kotteras also threw a ball into center field on Sunday night, which is yet another reason he should be on the bench or be playing no more than two games a week unless he has another position to play. (The main problem with the Brewers this year is that six of eight of the position players would be far better as designated hitters. Pity that Selig made the Brewers move from the AL a few years back, so maybe we’d only have five guys who’d do better as a DH who must play the field instead instead of all six.)

I can’t imagine why any team serious about contending would want A.J..
On the defensive side it would be hard to find a catcher worse than him. No arm, doesn’t handle the ball well and has old slow feet. The guy is at best a backup at this point in his career.

Still better than what the Brewers have. Lucroy is too young and needs more time in the minors. Kotteras is a very poor defensive catcher in all respects.

As soon as you learn how to spell Kottaras’ name I’ll take what you have to say seriously. Pierzynski makes absolutely no sense for the Crew.

Possible suitors?

you gotta give up the likes of francisco liriano and joe nathan just to be in the ballpark of acquiring AJ.

Classic & misplaced hindsight. Nathan was a middling starter w/ no track record for success who was sold on a high. Liriano had the same injury issues he maintains to this day & had yet to fulfill any of his potential. Pierzynski filled an area of need as the Giants made a push for the playoffs falling only 2 games shy.

Don’t forget the Boof!

This makes me sick.
1) AJ is Amazing.
2) He has consistently hit around .300 the past few years.
3) He knows the game.
4) Any team would be lucky to have him.
