Outstanding news. If this is true, should leave more bonus money for the loose restrictions for Ranaudo, Workman, Coyle, Cecchini, then hopefully they can get Perkins under 2 sport restrictions and either Duke or Jaffe.
Things looking good early on so far with 1st 2 signed for slot and both ranked high with good bats.

Of course they can draft well and take chances, they can actually afford to take risks on higher paid talent…

No other team that drafts poorly can? Doubt it.

Just like those high payroll Pirates and Royals are doing.

I just have to say that the sox had a ridiculously good draft. After seeing what they got I wished i was a sox fan because my team didn’t draft near as well with more picks. Im even betting that Boston doesn’t spend close to the most on this years draft despite signing an extreme amount of top 15 guys.

I say trade him for Adrian Gonzalez, straight up! Just kidding…

These bonuses are a farce. A mil for some kid just out of school who, under ideal circumstances, won’t be in the majors for a few years at best. What a joke.

On the open market, these guys would be making much more money. If it’s wrong to give these thoroughly scouted young talents somewhat significant money because they’re not sure things, then how do you feel about any free agent pitcher over 26 getting dozens of times that amount?

It is mentioned on Firebrand and Soxprospects that Kendrick perkins has signed, then not signed also. The signed came from perkins himself which probably is true, as 2 sport guy Jacobs also did this same thing last year when he opened his mouth very prematurely with his huge (900K) over slot bonus in the 9th round and was forced to wait until 8/17 to make it official.
Looks like this immense talent is probably in the fold also, a 6th round 6′ 2″ tremendously talented all around athlete that draws comparisons to Carl Crawford.
