Good point about the overpaid on the list being candidates to be dealt in August. Not much chance anyone is going to willingly pick up someone like Ramirez just to keep him from going to another team, ala Randy Meyers. I could see a player like him going to the Angels in August if they’re unable to pick up some offense before the deadline and are still in the race.

I agree no one is going to pick up Ramirez contract but i can see someone like Wigginton or Jose Lopez getting shipped out.

Add me to the list that Ramirez will likely stay put. His contract is not a favorable one for a bidding team. Ofcourse, the Cubs have many big contracts they want to move. Plus, Ram’s value is so low that they might as well see if he can come back to being productive before worrying about trade thoughts. If I were the Cubs, I would focus on trying to unload one of the ‘lesser’ big contracts…if that makes any sense.

Depending on their asking price I think Tejada, Cantu and Peralta would be good pick ups for the Yanks. Tejada especially makes for an interesting option to DH play 3B and SS occasionaly to rest Jeter and Arod. He’s in the twilight of his career and might be reinvigorated to make a last minute dash towards winning a WS title and bringing some sparkle and attnetion to his career.
