He’s also drawing interest because he’s 24! and has a low 90’s sinking fastball. Baltimore, Kansas City, Washington, Pittsburg, St Louis….. and on and on can use this type of player. I pray the Orioles can get him and throw him into the rotation. I was surprised they didn’t make some effort for Eric Patterson. Boston got a steal in my opinion. Patterson’s worst would be better than watching Lugo out there.

I’m not surprised teams are interested. Pitchers sometimes need a lot more time to develop. Organizations get weary and hustle them on out. That walk rate, though, appears problematic. The K rate is nice, so the stuff is there.
The guy they are opening a spot for-Tim Stauffer-also took a long time to get to the ML too. He had injury problems slow him down.

I bet the Jays were among those that called. They don’t seem to like anything more than ex-prospect pitchers.

And this, precisely, is why a “prospect in the minors” is just that. A prospect in…THE MINORS. Also the reason why I love Kenny Williams’ approach to….prospects in the minors.

Hopefully he for the sake of his career, he goes to a place that has a good track record with young pitchers. If St. Louis were an option, he should beg the Padres to trade him there…

Gallagher isn’t a relief pitcher and other teams know this. He’s spent all his time in the minors as a starter. He needs to find a home with a team that is going to give him consistent innings and the ball every 5th day. The Padres were hoping Gallagher would figure it out in the pen but its tough to do when you pitch every ten days. He’s only 24 and as the Padres pitching coach has stated has four quality pitches. Here’s to hoping that Gallagher gets a shot with another team and makes the most of it.

The padres don’t need Gallagher and maybe the padres can trade him for a Double A prospect or package him for Edwin Jackson or something idk but mostly they will trade him for a Double A guy and he’s still a good player just inconsistant
