Awesome work getting these kinds of insights from two respected GM’s, BNS.

Great post Ben!

Great feature guys. Glad to see the site is out to educate fans – just like with the tables when comparing guy for extensions during their arbitration years.

I could read a whole book about this… love this stuff.

Great read. One part I had to laugh at was the thought of GMs texting each other. I’m just picturing something like:AA sitting at a meeting discussing Halladay during the offseason. Suddenly his phone vibrates and he looks down to see.”j-montero 4 halladay str8 up ??? 🙂 – cashmoney”

I think we as baseball fans oftentimes forget how much effort goes into the trades when all we see is the end result in a headline. Thanks for the article.

This is a really really really brilliant insight, Ben. Great job. I especially like it because I am not sure if you can quite have this kind of piece happen on other journalistic or sports news sites. The part that’s especially interesting is MacPhail acknowledging how this site has affected the process of making deals. You have to wonder if GMs ever post here under pseudonyms, or, even just read comments. Why not?
I’d encourage even extending this investigation moreso. Revealing the actual process of deals and scouting is fascinating.

Like the general consensus on the board, I loved this piece!

Ok, but this still doesn’t explain the Dan Haren deal!

Nor the signing of Mike Cameron….
