Keep Edwin. Sign Uggla long term or trade him for pitching if they can’t strike a deal. Trade Gaby so Morrison can play his natural position at 1st. Sign Nolasco to another 1 year deal and use the upcoming season as a determinant if he gets a long term deal or not. Go after Soriano (wishful thinking, I know.)
Natinals
I dont see them trading Gaby Sanchez. If Coghlan has another slow start next year I can see him being traded and Morrison becomes the full time left fielder. Or maybe Sanchez at third and then Morrison at first. Didnt Sanchez come up as a third basemen?
Dave_Gershman
The whole point is to have Chris Coglnan be the everyday 3B next season so LoMo, Maybs, and MS are in the OF, Gabs, H2R, His Name is, and CC are in the IF.
fishfan4life
Gaby is an awful 3rd baseman defensively. And they want Morrison at 1st where he excels at. Coghlan is a natural infielder as well. But Beinfest also said Dominguez will have a good shot at making the team in ST so who the hell knows lol.
johnsilver
The defense will not be getting any better, trades or not with Ramirez and Uggla up the middle, unless Luria goes into salary dump mode. Bonifacio playing even fewer games at 3B always helps the defense as well, regardless who the other option is.

What type of return would it take to get Gaby Sanchez and Uggla in the same deal?
ehsank24
Probably a really, really good reliever.
fishfan4life
If Uggla is in the deal, I could see them getting some good young starting pitching.
Dave_Gershman
I’m really, really excited to see what the Marlins will do this off-season. I could see them signing both Matt Guerrier and J.J. Putz, and bringing up Evan Reed.
Imagine a bullpen of Guerrier, Putz, Sanches, Nunez, Hensley, Badenhop, and Reed. A rotation of Johnson, Nolasco, Sanchez, Volstad, and Sanabia who is pretty much the Marlins version of Kris Medlen.
fishfan4life
I completely forgot about Putz. I’d rather him closing games and Hensley being the set up man. Trade Nunez for what he’s worth imo even though his stock has dropped since the trade deadline.
Dave_Gershman
I’d definetly keep Nunez, but I like the idea of having Putz as the closer and Hensley as the set up man. Imagine Guerrier in the 7th, Nunez and Hensley in the 8th, and Putz in the 9th…
I’m a huge Marlins fan by the way. You are pretty much the only other Marlins fan I know on MLBTR.
ehsank24
Don’t post much on here, but I love the Fish as well. I love the idea of Puttz. I am also growing on the idea of trading Gaby for a reliever if Matty D is truly ready. I love Gaby, but we need to improve our D.
Dave_Gershman
Good to hear. Nice to meet you fish fan!
But I’d keep the lineup and spend some money.
Henry Castellanos
Dude, you’re a fan of every team, except for(non-surprisingly) the yankees
Dave_Gershman
I like the Yankees more than the Sox (both), giants, and Phillies. By the way, you going to the post season games?
johnsilver
Fish Fan also, ever since they cam into “being” with Wayne H. Them and Boston and try to watch all the games on TV, with Boston on MLB. Tommy Hutton is a superb announcer, like him better at that than did as a player and he was one of my favorites on those old Phillie powerhouse teams from the late 70’s.
Dave_Gershman
I love Tommy Hutton and Rich Waltz. Hutton really brings it when it comes to home runs and walk offs.

Can you see the Fish FO springing for Putz? If they do keep Uggs over the winter, figure 10M or so and Putz, even if he is non tendered will still be seeking 4-5M and probably get it on the market. Not sure They can afford it, but he would be an interesting option, especially as a fairly new guy on the NL scene.

What’s the deal with Cousins? Fourth outfielder type or could he supplant Cameron Mayhit at some point?
fishfan4life
He has all the makeup of a 4th outfielder. But is a short term plan if Maybin continues to struggle next season.
Henry Castellanos
Marlins future infield so far- Matt Dominguez, Hanley Ramirez, Logan Morrison
Marlins future outfield so far- Mike Stanton, Maybin(?)
Along with that young pitching I say Florida is a contender by 2011 or 2012
Hector Cortes
Man even though I think people kinda underestimate the offense Uggla brings at the 2B position if the Marlins can’t resign him I wouldn’t mind the Mets getting into the action of a possible trade with them for him….
