I’d like to see if Dave Duncan can make something of Bannister.
CJ Montiel
This looks like a total Dave Duncan situation. Still pretty young, coming off a bad year, still might have good stuff.
Come on Cards! You’ve got room on your roster, it can’t hurt!
pageian
I’m not sure Bannister ever had good stuff. Marginal stuff and brains to back it up but still he’s never been very good. I’d love to see him succeed and I’d like to see Duncan get a crack at him but overall I can’t see him making huge improvements.
PookieGonzales
I think i was 06 that he had a really good year. For him anyway. Had an era about 3.70 or so.
vtadave
Bannister has never had “good stuff”. So, while Duncan is a freaking genius and all, I’m not sure that he can add 4 mph to Bannister’s fastball and more of a break to his slider.
Koby2
Wow that happened quick. He could still come back maybe, but I thought they’d wait a little longer to see if a trade market somehow shaped up (not like it would though).
Bob
Koby, Bannister is damaged goods. He can’t throw his cutter and he has pain. He wouldn’t have passed a physical and was a known non-tender anyway.
Koby2
Oh I knew he’d be non-tendered, much more likely than Davies, but I just thought he’d stick on the roster longer. I’d still take him over Burgos any day of the week.
Bob
Well put. I doubt that Brian will ever drive over people or poison them.
MetsEventually
Come home.
JaySchu
To the bullpen? I don’t want him starting over Niese or Mejjia.
icedrake523
I’d rather him in the front office than on the mound.
rfffr
Is anyone going to actually be non-tendered?
Sidney
Aw. Knew Bannister had to go based on his terrible performance this year, but he’s one of the most intelligent, articulate, good guys out there. Maybe an offseason to rest his shoulder and a return to the national league would be good for him.
Tko11
Yea…he was bad. Only 29, hopefully he can improve a bit and give some team some quality innings.
Joe
Good start for the Royals. Crazy idea, but if they are going to move Greinke how about this.
Royals: Greinke, Dejesus
Red Sox: Matsuzaka, Bowden, Lowrie, Ellsbury, Kalish +cash
This is so video game, but would be freaking awesome for the Royals.
UnderachieversAvenue
Seriously Red Sox fans should stop offering trade proposals around Bowden and Kalish; they are overhyped prospects who will become nothing more than a Quad-A player … Lowrie is an interesting player who’s got some nice pop for a middle infielder but strikes out too much and injury-prone.
Furthermore, I don’t picture Greinke’s depression working well in Boston…
UnderachieversAvenue
*players.
PookieGonzales
Dude i understand what you say about bowden. But saying that about Kalish is off-base. Kalish has some real upside and is being talked about as a possible 25 homerun 270./.360 20 steal center fielder/Right fielder. Do SOME thinking before you post.

The day he does hang up his cleats will be the day the door opens to a long coaching career.
He gets it and should be very good at teaching it.
Good luck Brian. Hope you still have something left in the tank.
sparkysway
I think he would fit in nicely with the Tigers in Comerica National Park!

What’s the difference between outrighting someone off of the roster and non-tendering them?
