i think Rhodes makes a ton of sense for the Yankees. 2yr/7mil seems fair(yankee standard).

Cant wait for the Reds to have next years slump.
redsandyanksfan
Care to explian why you think that?
They have basically the same team expect with out Rhodes and Orlando and there getting stronger there team has alot of youth and is getting better.Hopefully we find a steady leadoff hitter.
Hubbs2
Its except, not expect. Just so you know
Hubbs2
Oh, and with out, is one word, without.
redsandyanksfan
Thanks Grammar Patrol, im glad you could assist me with my errors.

Well you used the wrong there too, it’s they’re. It’s really hard to read comments that seem like a five year old wrote them
redsandyanksfan
And it’s really annoying people like you think they have to be right about everything. It’s not like im writing a essay for a big college or something.
Aaron M
I agree with redsandyanksfan it doesn’t make sense, a full year of Bruce understanding the game better and no Harang which means they don’t have to feel obligated to give away losses to Harang.

Reasons for Reds improvement
1. Young arms another year older.
Wood and Leake will be second year and both have very good understandings of what they are doing on the mound.
Cueto gets better with each year, though I doubt he’s ever going to be more then a 6 inning arm
Volquez further removed from TJ
Chapman further developing as a starter, mid to late season reinforcement.
2. Bruce becomes a legit all star caliber player, he’d already be one if not for July last year. Even with it he put up a sneaky good season
3. No Cabrera. He was poor defensively and even worse with the bat. If not for Halladay he’d be the Phillies MVP of the divisional series. Janish won’t hit, but he’s gold glove caliber with the leather.
4. They still have Votto
5. They should get someone for LF that isn’t a waste for all but one month of the season.
Reasons for a regression
1. Last season has to be as good as it gets for Arroyo
2. Rolen faded badly in the second half and he was handled with kid gloves for most of the year.
3. If Gomes is the starting LF the Reds will have two positions that are near pitcher level as hitters go. Gomes has power, but if you remove May he’s a .240 hitter with a sub .700 OPS I believe.
4. They’re still managed by Dusty Baker. Great motivator, but horrible game management
5. Any time your closer has a nickname that is Uth Oh you have a issue.

Rolen, Gomes, Hernandez, Janish, Arroyo are all guys who won’t replicate a year like last that was in the end average years anyway. Cueto, and Volquez are both flashes in the pan that won’t pan out. So really you got Votto who’s numbers will regress due to the fact of no protection behind him and follow that up with erratic Phillips who it all depends on if he wants to play and what do you have? Aroldis Chapman lol. A guy who throws 105? Big leaguers will end up hitting him on the regular.
redsandyanksfan
Why are you so damn negative about the reds? must be a card or cubs fan,I think Rolen will regress but not much he just needs to be kept fresh.Arroyo has been nothing but consistent since he has arrived her in cinnci so i see him replicate this year.Janish year was really nothing to brag about so he isn’t a big factor,Ramon i think will still be the clutch hitter he was. I highly doubt Cueto and Volquez are just a “flash in the pan”. Cueto has gotten better every year and Volquez just recovered for TJ surgery it wasn’t to long ago when he was our ACE and went 17-6 a all-star and 200+ strikeouts.Vottos number wont regress because Bruce will have a full year and have a great year along with Rolen who will still hit good and hopefully Phillips gets moved from leadoff.Chapman has alot of movement of his pitches and throws them really hard so it wont be that easy.
jaybuck
Oh not to mention Dusty and Walt who are both not very good at their positions.
A Stelt
How exactly is Walt not good at his position?

I think the Reds are going to be pretty good again next year.
Arroyo gives them his 200+ innings, more good than bad.
Bruce made great strides in his quest to be the above average ML right fielder we hope he can be.
Ditto Drew Stubbs.
Chapman, Ondrusek, and Bray put in solid seasons; the first two with their first taste of the ML, Bray returning from TJ Surgery.
Wood, Bailey, Leake, Lecure, and Maloney all showed flashes of being solid major league pitchers; some of them are going to be moved for hopefully infield help/protection and a better option for left field.
I see the Reds as a team with holes to fill, and fairly full minor league system to help them do it. They are set up to be in contention for years to come.

Hey im a Cubs fan and i think the Reds are going to be fighting for 1st place all year. I like what the Reds have done with there minnor leagers and there transition to the bigs.
Like it or not But the Reds are here to stay. Besides i need a team to watch untill the Cubs get back to contending.
