Well at least he’s being optomistic. I want to see him remain a Marlin and I think the interest is more mutual than ever right now.

hasn’t there been rumors that uggla is not happy in florida (because of the ross deal, etc.)? i hope he is happy to stay. the marlins are lucky to have him.

In an era of free agency, and players moving to different teams all the time, while it may excite us (it can excite me as well) it is nice seeing a good player stay with the team he came up with for an extended period or his whole career. I hope the Marlins are able to keep Uggla.

it seems it is the year that is making the difference. it is the same basic money, 10 mill. per year. the marlins could just offer the 5th with a high buyout for that year. that should satisfy everyone involved. but, it is not in the marlins blueprint to offer so many years for an older player. hope it gets done, but if not, grab some pitching in trade.

Seems to me ‘And his name is” Dan Uggla just wants 5 years guaranteed. Because $48M for 4 yrs or $12M/yr while what it says he wants is 5 yrs for $58M or $11.6M/yr.

If it doesn’t get done do the White Sox and Marlins match up on a Uggla/Beckham deal? Don’t know that the Sox would want to take on the money but with the potential loss of Konerko/AJ they could use the bat. Marlins would probably jump at the chance to get someone younger/cheaper.
pageian
^^^ Not that AJ should be considered a *bat*.

thinking about it now i would offer the marlins alexi ramirez and a few prospects for ugla…move beckham back to SS
pageian
That’s a win/win for the Sox.
friscofan101
why would teh marlins want a major league ready short stop?
jwsox
because he has experience at 2nd…and has improved every year at his defense…he probably could also move to 3rd due to his cannon arm thus moving coghlin to 2nd…its actually a smart move for both teams depending on how the prospects line up
elscorcho the marlin
nah, the marlins like the third baseman they have in the minors. so much so, they are wondering if he will beat cogz out for position. they have all the infielders they want. they want pitching if anything.
Serdar Sirin
If Uggla does get moved, it better be for pitching. The Marlins still need a solid #2 behind Josh Johnson
elscorcho the marlin
if nolasco would just get consistent, they have one. that is a big IF.
Serdar Sirin
If anything, I think Anibal Sanchez has more of the ability to be a #2 if he stays healthy.
elscorcho the marlin
he has been more inconsistent than nolasco. he had that game in is rookie season, and it has been all “potential” since then. he’s frustrating.
