Can anyone help me out with this? Off the top of my head I cannot think of many times the Mets have gone to arbitration with a player. Anyone have a link to the last 5 times the Mets actually went to a hearing with a player? I bet it hasn’t happened more than once or twice in the last decade.

Oliver Perez went to arbitration with them and won in his favor (and a HUGE loss for us as Mets fans) for $6.5 Million in 2008 and then waayyyy back in 1992 vs. David Cone. Go back a bit further and you have Tim Teufel & Ron Darling in 1986.

Thanks! That’s pretty much what I had expected. The Mets aren’t cutting edge in a lot of things, but they’re definitely one of the best teams in the league at avoiding arbitration.

They’ve had a knack for settling contract disputes during the eleventh hours, a good example was with Armando Benitez a few years back.

Thankfully the Mets don’t have to go into Arbitration with anyone because they’re gonna be way too busy in a different type of hearing in a couple of weeks.

oliver perez was the last case i remember and i believe it was in 06-07…before that no idea

That’s what i was thinking too. I remember Perez was stubborn, but before and after that, seems like the Mets never go to arbitration.

Angel Pagan is worth every penny.

Sorry for the double post.

My favorite player on the Mets. He’s like Victorino in his prime with a little less power and a little more speed.

Also, way less of a d-bag. I’m a Mets fans, I don’t even hate the Phils anymore, I respect what they’ve done, but Shane Victorino’s still a horse’s rear

He is also my favorite Met, and I think he has way more power than Victorino, he just doesn’t elavate the ball with his swing. I suspect with his first full, guaranteed position year you will see his slugging percentage and more particularly home run numbers rise. somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 homeruns. remember Victorino plays in a sandlot where he gets cheap homeruns. I think Pagan is the most underrated player in baseball, I think he is capable of Crawford type numbers, not sure if we’ll ever see that though.
