As a Braves fan, I want to echo the sentiment that J-Hey is an awful nickname. It’s not as awful as the tomahawk chop, but it’s awful. If the Braves announcers pick up the ‘His name is Dan Uggla!!!’ line this year, watching the Braves is going to be a bad experience for me, regardless of win/loss record. I can’t handle those 3 things combined….
But with that said, I think Heyward reaches the 30 HR mark in 2011 if healthy. I’ve got a .285, .410, .510 line for the kid.
I blame Alex Rodriguez for the recent lack of originality in nicknames. Ever since “A-Rod” started, every single player’s nickname is his first initial and the first syllable of his last name.
It can be funny though. I went through the Orioles lineup using that template once a few years ago. My favorite was Rafael Palmeiro: R-Pal.
Too bad the A-Rod nickname template didn’t catch on with former first round pick Aaron Holbert.

What if the person complaining about “The J-Hey Kid” is, in fact, the J-Hey Kid??
