I could not figure out the Indians until I looked at their pitching stats, 1st in quality starts, 2nd in WHIP and 2nd in BAA, they are pitching lights out now with an unheralded group of pitchers. Interesting to see if they can keep it up, odds are they can’t though.

While I do love the work MLBtraderumors does, the post about the Orioles is only half of the point made in the article. The other half is that April is still usually one of their weaker months.

At their age though, I’m not sure how much you can really expect.

How can the Mariner’s have “almost nothing in the farm system” when they had some of the best draft picks for the last 10 years, and traded arguably one of the best pitchers in the game as recently as last year?

I think the point was that the Mariners had “almost nothing in the farm system” *at the time Jack Zduriencik took over*, in October 2008. Zduriencik drafted Dustin Ackley in 2009, and traded for (then traded away) Cliff Lee. Zdurienck’s biggest trade not involving Cliff Lee was his first, the one that sent J.J. Putz to the Mets, a trade that was clearly designed to restock the M’s farm system.

The Pirates had nothing in the farm system when Huntington took over. That was 2007, not 2010.
