The Jays have put too much time & effort into rehabbing McGowan at this point, and he appears so close to being back, to make him a non-tender, IMO.

I think all Jays fans are holding their breath, hoping not to jynx his return.

They sure are. He’ll likely be a September call-up. The team has been holding a 40-man spot for him when he comes off the 60-day. I think he starts today in AA? His last start was on the 26th… so maybe tomorrow.

There is just no way they non-tender McGowan after all of this time unless he blows his arm out in the next month.

Yeah, but the question is, are they Jays actually going to take anyone to arbitration??
bla
That’s the thing, they never do.

You gotta love that about them and the players they extend during arb. The jays take a huge risk hoping the player stays healthy and does not faulter and they players are willing to potentially make less money. There is something good growing in Toronto. Maybe AA should get a movie. I mean come on Billy ” stat junkie I can draft/ trade for and develop pitchers but nothing else” benne can get one AA should get one

anthopolous himself would tell you that he owes a debt to beane just like the majority of GMs in the league who benefit from advanced statistical analysis and the principles of moneyball

So the Jays spend roughly the $15MM on arbitration eligibles Tim guesstimated earlier in the year, and have roughly $47MM committed in 2012. Not a bad payroll for a .500 club in the AL East.
