Guthrie is a beast

I like Guthrie, just because he is as effective of an innings eating guy as there has been in the AL East for years, just stuck with lousy oriole teams and probably won’t be around when the O’s make it back to a real contender. Weaver would have loved this guy, Palmer, Cuellar, McNalley he had some good ones way back and the stuff Guthrie has is not that different, just he has lousy fielding and offensive support behind him.
Stick him on either a decent over all team, or even in the NL and that 9-17 record he put up this season could have easily been 17-9. What a waste of a good talent and not knocking on the O’s overall, just what Guthrie has had to put up with.

Pick almost any season and reverse his W/L record. Thats what it should have been.

Yeah. Guthrie deserves to leave the AL East and pitch in the NL. I think we can all imagine how much better his stats would instantly bounce.

Oh give me a break, yeah he sometimes has electric stuff. However, he as too many hiccups! He could be motoring along throwing a shutout and then he could just as quickly give up back to back homeruns. 8 to 10 million for that, that’s not what I am thinking. Let him try his luck somewhere else and trade him. Also, thank him for his service, it’s the least the O’s can do!

Not saying the guy is a 10-12m a year pitcher by any means to *me* at least then one goes and looks at people like Edwin jackson, who Guthrie is much better than, the Entire twins rotation, some of which make more than Guthrie and he is superior to them all and the O’s have a decision to make.
Agree with above post. If the O’s play it by hand, let it go with a 1 year deal then Guthrie is probably better off career wise signing with a contender in the NL where he will face overall weaker lineups and more pitcher friendly stadiums. it would be a shame to O’s fans to lose what I think is a tradition (long standing) of them producing top notch starters that has kind of dragged some since him. i DO realize they have youngsters right now they are high on (britton for example) but most have fizzled since Guthrie and Bedard and that is sad for an organization that at one time was a pitching development machine.

He deserves 8 to 10 million, but he deserves to be with a better team more.

Guthrie to the Reds for Chapman. Chapman becomes the closer for the Orioles. Then we sign CJ to replace Guthrie. Go O’s!
