Didn’t Frenchy sign a two year deal, making his contract guaranteed?
Daniel Wesley
The Royals 1st and 2nd order pythag record last year was 78-84, so they’re already in good position to break .500 next year with just a little bit of improvement. If they can score two starting pitching upgrades, 85+ wins and some semblance of competitiveness is not out of the question next year.

Step one: Resign Bruce Chen
Step two: Clone Bruce Chen 4 times
Step three: Win World Series
Justin J. Bartz
Adding some “intangibles” and “grittiness” in the form of Nick Punto would further emphasize their World Series aspirations.
Bolivar Shagnasty
I think the Royals have “intangibles” and “grittiness” covered with Chris Getz…

I agree, if they would have had five of Bruce Chen, they would be playing Texas today.
Brent Saindon
And giving up tons of cheap home runs in that joke of a ballpark in Arlington.

You don’t a title with four Bruce Chen’s, It’s not as easy as that. Get a true ace and then surround him with a couple of Chen’s and you might get there one day

I don’t know, man. Cloning someone four times definitely seems like the shortcut to success.
Jacob Pribnow
Especially when it’s Bruce Chen.

We need Edwin Jackson!!!!!

Gotta love them basically copying Rany’s blog on the starting pitching.
Otis26
A shame because Rany is a hack.
Alex Doyle
is he that bad of a dermatologist?
Ryan Raphael D'avid Carr
Just watch all the Braves fans salivating over all those young Royals hitters. Please send a few our way just no Hanson or Teheran.
Guest 6496
With the way our team offense just sputtered, crashed, burned, exploded, then burned again, I’d probably salivate over anything that makes even a marginal difference in our ability be a remotely competent offense again.

But, yea, I’m definitely expecting some moves this season, maybe even an unexpected shake-up, and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the Royals were involved. Could make a lot of sense for both sides.

Front of the rotation starter would be perfect. Then get in middle of the rotation starter (maybe Chen). Shift Hochevar to 2, Paulino to 4, and Duffy to 5. I like the offense, defense, and bullpen.
Dave Beal
If you ask me? Stand Pat, play the young pitchers, bank the money to keep the team together for several years. The Royals have a ton of good pitching coming, and less roster spots than quality arms already. I would throw Paulino in the #1 hole and see what happens. 98 mph fastball and good secondary stuff made him look pretty outstanding the last of the season. Resign Chen as a #2, Hochevar at 3, Aaron Crow at #4, and Duffy at 5.
